But, would you by any chance, know of a higher resolution version? I would love to actually see some parts in better detail (or read them, which is kept mostly impossible as it is now), but zooming in is of no avail, as the resolution doesn't provide it.

As far as I recall (given that I have already had the chance to find this picture), this should represent either Melkor unleashing his primordial wrath during the ancestral wars against the Valar or him after the theft of the Jewels, although he had well taken a physical shape by the time (as most of the Ainur had exactly done). Thus, I do believe that the former hypothesis seems to be more appropriate and accurate for the case.
