Edain Demo 4.1 - Your Impressions

--- Zitat von: SkaarjX am 10. Jul 2015, 03:06 ---Hi team!
Love the mod, love the dwarves update.
Just a few small bugs to report, and a couple of balance suggestions (in-case they haven't already been reported/suggested).
Bugs:
- AI doesn't build troops from laketown/dale on all maps I have tried.
- Gimli's leap doesn't seem to work.
- Dwarves' castle is too big on a few maps, walls are missing at start.
- Often building new outposts, camps or castles, plots/walls are missing.
Balance suggestions:
- Veterans of Khazad Dum are extremely strong, and relatively cheap/easy.
Suggestion: Make them less strong, or make them less chance of appearing.
- Dwarven chariots have a few problems:
Very low health, die very quickly.
High cost, but low CP. Should be high CP/cost, or low CP/cost.
They are not very useful. Only for killing enemy archers sometimes.
Suggestion: Make them higher CP & tougher, damage seems fine.
Thanks for reading my post, I hope that helps :)

Hi there! It's been a long time. :D
I have only played Dwarves until then, so I'm not gonna discuss balance changes for other factions.
Still, you did a great job with Dwarves! I admit I was a little dubious but you managed well.
I am aware of the hotfix patch coming next so I'm not gonna mention bugs. However there are a few things that could be in my opinion improved and aren't planned as far as i know. For instance, - battlewagons take too much damage and should auto-heal upon lvl2 ;
- Dain (Iron Hills) is not strong enough and I find it weird that he costs almost 1000 less than his son ;
- I got it: you're gonna stick with your designs for Iron Hills and Erebor, and, after all, I'm even fine with that, concerning regular units. Indeed they're pretty good to be totally honest. But I think Iron Hills slayers and Erebor axe swingers really deserve an upgrade. There's plenty of stuff in BotFA's art.
- The spelltree could use some tweaks I think. For instance the lone tower is not unique in any way (Gondor) and doesn't fit to dwarves I believe. Also the spell 'Greed' is so hazardous it does not even seem worth it to me. I personnaly liked the vanilla 'Dwarves wealth': Dwarves are rich and need to played like that. Just like a good Isengard, sort of.
Anyway, all the other stuff (in 4.1 and to come, like Thorin's regal armor and new palantir for Erebor Dain) is great. I especially LOVE that you changed the hideous beast that used to led battlewagons by rams. My general feedback is very positive, be sure of that.
Also, I don't really know who send you what english voices, but if you desire voices from X or Y and you haven't got them yet, I'd be glad to help for the cutting. :)

The more I play the more I'm getting used to your designs and the more I like them. I even understand now why you've chosen to stick to them. You were right on that one ;)
However I can't help but disliking the spells Greed and Lone Tower for respectively gameplay and uniqueness reasons. The former is way too hazardous to be fun. The latter doesn't fit into the faction ambience.

I would prefer a rebuild over a lone tower honestly.
