The Company of...Eight?
« am: 5. Jul 2015, 21:13 »
Let me just start out by saying that I really love the work that has been done on the mod, especially with the Dwarf factions.

It does kind of bother me that (in a future date when the Elves are released) the entire Fellowship may be summoned, all nine Ringwraiths...and only eight members of the Company permanently? (Dwalin, Balin, Thorin, Kili, Fili, Bofur, Bilbo and, if another Dwarf player/AI is on the map as Erebor, old Gloin). I guess the main reason would be that it would be difficult to create unique quotes and abilities for six more Dwarf heroes.

I wonder if there would be any way of implementing all the members of the Company as permanent summons, the same way Kili and Fili are with Thorin. Make them penultimate abilities (unlocked at lvls 7, 8 or 9).

The problem is that there is a maximum amount of heroes, you can add for a faction. As you have to combine all heroes of all three realms, you can't have many heroes for the dwarven faction, which are normally buildable. Summonable heroes would also loose all their levels after dying.

Those are two of the reasons why we don't have all heroes permanently.

The only possibility would be something like Fili&Kili, but I'm personally quite happy with the current implementation.^^

I am actually fine with the current system! :) I like how the Team implemended all Heroes in some way!And we do not have to forget that having so much Heroes will get complicated and hard to play and coordinate,so I think it is good the way it is! :)
The only thing that I am not so satisfied is that Balin is no longer playable in Erebor and Iron hills and that Dain is not playable in Ered Luin where for him I think wil lbe good to have some role after all he would help his keen if needed as shown in BoFA! :)
But that aside I think the Dwarven heroes are fine as they are! :)

I like currect system for Ered Luin. I think this heroe group(similarly like Black riders) would be suitable for Erebor. Maybe Dain or Gloin(on level 10) can summon permanently or temporarily all surviving members of Thorin company (Dwalin, Bofur, Bifur, Dori and Nori). I think rest of the Thorin company probably also defended Erebor against easterlings in book. xD

Of course, they should have gray/white hairs and beards. Also, they can have Erebor armor from movie:

It is a good idea but I tihnk Gloin is better as being part of the Company itself and also I do not want to lose the cool power of Dain! :)

I think Gloin should remain as normal hero. He had an important role in LOTR story. If Gloin is removed, who will be the new hero for Erebor?
Do you mean this Dain's summon barracks ability?  :o
This hero units would be more interesting ability than the only building. I have a feeling that Dain's summon building ability is not fit for bfme 1 building system. You disagree?  8-)

Well I do not think the Summon Buildings is fiting so much may be a Summon a Battalion of Each Possible Dwarven Kingdom at the time,2 Battalions at once,Ered LUin,Iron hills,Grey Mountains and erc! :)
I think Gloin should summon them that is what I meant! :)

Oh, sorry. I guess you are right this summon would be better for Gloin on level 10. I think this battalion should have five abilities. One ability for every character in the group(Dwalin, Bofur, Bifur, Dori and Nori).

If I know Dain(iron Hills version) has very similar ability on level 10. But I have a solution and new ability for Dain in Iron Hills:  8-)

Old Warriors
« Antwort #16 am: 5. Aug 2015, 15:18 »
I'm a little improved my old idea:  8-)
Glóin already has an great abilities, so I think Dain is better choice for summon ability.
Now in 4.1.1 is Dain most expensive hero in Erebor. Also, I think that King Dain need something more unique on level 10 than building with units from three dwarven subfactions. These units are available in all dwarves subfactions. I have an idea for something more interesting for him:

King Dain(Erebor)
Level 10: Old Warriors
Dain summon legendary companions of Thorin Oakenshield to the last battle. He summon permanently hero battalion like Black riders.
The hero battalion contains these heroes: Nori, Dori, Bifur, Bofur and Dwalin.
I think rest of the Thorin company probably also defended Erebor against easterlings in book.

Of course, they should have gray/white hairs and beards. Also, they can have Erebor armors and weapons from movie:

Old Warriors abilities:

Level 1: Spear
Bifur throw spear against enemies.
Selected enemy unit or hero gets moderate damage.

Level 3: Thief
Nori is an experienced thief. He steals resources from the selected enemy building.

Level 5: Professional warrior(passive)
Dwalin is professional warrior and inspires dwarves on battlefield.
Nearby dwarven units gets more experience from slain enemies and resistance to fear.

Level 7: Wine
Dori gives the wine his companions. Old warriors will restore half of their health.

Level 10: Bofur's speech
Bofur tired of enemy with his speech.
Nearby enemy units gets -20% armor and -15% speed.

One ability for every character in the battalion. You can have only one battalion in game.

What do you think about this idea?  8-)

While I like the idea very much and especially the part that we are going t o have those cool Movie Armors I wonder if that becomes Dain LV 10 Power what will happen and how will his role as King Under the Mountain and that he is able to call upon "The 7 Armies of the Dwarfs" be presented in game if not with those Barracks! :)

If this is necessarily. Citadel in spellbook can have this function. So, you can recruit here units from all subfactions like in old Dain's barracks.  ;)

Maybe I have a solution:
Dain can summon permanently two battalions of Guardians(one from Ered Luin and one from Iron Hills) on level 3.
And Balin gets his old transport battlewagons on level 3. So, No more teleport for him.  8-)

I like the idea about Dain it sounds good and reasonable, but how about to summon 2 battlions 1 of Ered Luin Defenders and 1 of Iron Hills Slayers!? :)
And I still think Balin should get his old Leadership, after all he is a Veterann fro mmany battles and wise Dwarf with leader qualities! :)

Yes, maybe leadership is better. Transport battlewagons can be new improvement for standard battlewagons. Maybe all 3 subfactions can have new special improvements for battlewagons:
Erebor: Transport for heroes
Ered Luin: More armor for Ram and battlewagons
Iron Hills: Something with more speed for battlewagons

What do you think about this?

Well, I think that he is not suitable for this battalion but maybe Bombur can be new ability for this hero batalion:

Level 10: Bombur
Dwarves summon their old companion.
Old Warriors temporarily summon Bombur, stretcher and six young dwarves. They will fight to protect him. :D

Okay, so I heard that, when 4.2 comes out in the next age of this world, Erebor gets Nori (and Dori) for the role of scout-hero. I like this idea, since it does bring a few more names from the Company without causing the problems which you all have stated making the whole company appear would create.

Color me satisfied. If any of you wish to continue making suggestions, feel free to do so. Otherwise, I guess we can close this thread?
