According to the direct and plain rules of the forum, you should let a day pass, at least, to be able to post a double comment of yours.
6.12 Replying to your own posts, that is posting several times in a row in the same thread while nobody else has posted anything, is not allowed. If you want to add something to your previous post, use the edit button to expand it. Once 24 hours have passed since your last post, however, this rule no longer applies.
Forum RulesHowever, I think – as a Moderator – that this rule could also be interpreted a bit differently, in specific contexts, if necessity requires it.
And, particularly regarding this and other similar cases, I can say that a kind of 'common praxis' has been followed so far.
Specifically:
if the second post has nothing to do with the previous one in content, and if, in particular, we are dealing with threads of this sort in which some comments are periodically posted in form of updates of a project's progress, one can legitimately 'avoid' this rule (but only within these precise conditions).I believe the rule itself is mainly aimed to concern how to counter annoying spam (which is not this case) or keeping order into the forum; but, essentially, the former is held more in consideration.
Therefore, in very simple words: Mathijs, I think there are no problems in separating one common reply to an update post
Sorry for the 'juridical' parenthesis, but I felt I had to clarify this aspect
Obviously, if the Administrators disagree, the rule will be enforced normally.
P.S. Apart from the jokes, and, as much as I appreciate an informal and not too serious atmosphere, I would counsel everyone to be the most decently consistent possible about constructive feedback.
Firstly, because this is one of the main purposes of most of the threads of the forum, secondly because not everyone might apply to one's own standards of irony or hilarity, with the risk of misinterpretations (something I have the duty to avoid).
Greetings
