New Ringheroes
« am: 1. Apr 2016, 13:16 »
Hello everyone.

Edain Mod is getting better and better with every release, everyone knows it. But according to a recent poll on this forum, 95% of the players want some more ringheroes to be added to the game (the 5 other % were not able to read).
This is why I chose 5 heroes among the mightiest in Tolkien's mythology during the 3rd Age, so we can debate about concepts for each of them.

Please make well-argued answers, as this might be one of the hardest choices the ET will have to face. I know it is gonna be a tough debate, because every hero mentionned deserves the ring. I hope this poll doesn't get too messy.

Have a nice day Edainers :D

While this is a valid proposal I do have several issues with what you are proposing. If you don't mind I'll address the issues one by one.

But according to a recent poll on this forum

I do have some concerns about your list since it seems that your pick follows no particular order. Fili? Why not kili or both? same thing for Orophin.  Also I believe, personally, that those are definitely not the top five non-ring hero mightiest heroes. I'm sorry but honestly most of these heroes would probably be crushed by the ring, apart from Bilbo who has shown he is able to hold up quite well. Hwaldar would become nothing but a wraith, beregond would be perverted worse then Boromir. Orophin would probably be vaporized the moment he puts it on  :P

As for the new Ring heroes concept, Gondor already has 2, Bilbo and Fili are in the same faction and overall just why these particular heroes which are quite low ranked and cheap.
Overall a valid proposal but with a concept I don't see as ending up on anything. Most the thing about Ring heroes in the Edain Mod is how unique they are, adding more and more ring-heroes would just kill that uniqueness out. I think that your case might have been easier to argue with had it not looked like you had just picked heroes out of a hat. Strictly from a debating point of view I am formally against this proposal.

Well, this is a very well thought out concept, eventhough I, myself, thought about some different heroes. I'll just list them down here, perhaps you like them more:
 - Aragorn
 - Pippin
 - Rumil
 - Imrahil
 - Legolas

Exactly those and in exactly this order would make a brilliant addition to Edain!

No Haldir=Worst Poll in History    xD

Here would be my 5 Heroes I'd like to see as Ring Heroes

-Haldir (of course (**) (**))
-The Orc that says "But Nothing Can Breach it!" in the films.
-Rhosgobel Rabbits
-Batman
-Gimli, because he needs a leap that can go across the whole map.

This thread makes me terribly uncomfortable  :D

Yes, I'm uncomfortable that he did not add Haldir to the poll as well.

Don't worry, Hamanathnath, I will edit the poll.
It's in these pivotal situations that a Moderator has to show up and stick to the purest moderating principles  :D

Give the Ring to Tom Bombadil.
That is all.

He will just lose it and forget about it.
Just send it to Valinor  xD

In French we've got an expression which says "Plus c'est gros, plus ça passe". I don't know how to translate it properly but you could say "The bigger/more unbelievable it [the joke] is, the easier people think it is real". The fact is, it works very well :D

More seriously I could think about some heroes getting the ring like Aragorn, Legolas, Thorin, Haldir of course  (**), or Thranduil. But I wouldn't create a post just to say "I WANT MORE RINGHEROES JUST GIVE US RINGHEROES PLZ"  [uglybunti]

There are threads like that in this forum, and, unfortunately, it was not April's Fool day when they were created. Especially, if you browse the Dwarven Section, you will find some  :D

Nevertheless, this topic won't have a long future.
I will close the thread after midnight (Central European Time).
Until that moment, you are free to express your unspeakable sense of desperation and sorrow for such a loss for the Edain Community  xD

Just for fun, I have come up with Haldir's Abilities with the ring :)

Level 1: Alternate Weapon:  Haldir can't decide what weapon to use.  This makes him unable to attack until Haldir figures out what weapon he wants to use.

Level 2: Move Unseen:  Allied units will become invisible.  Unfortunately, the player can't see them either.  Haldir says they are there, but it seems like they vanished forever.

Level 4: Golden Arrow: A high damage attack that stuns light sensitive units.  However, because the Arrow is made of Gold, it is too heavy to shoot out of a bow, so this Ability never hits its target.

Level 6: Leader of the Galadhrim:  Haldir tries to lead the Galadhrim to battle.  Unfortunately for him, he forgot how to spell Galadhrim on his Business card, and wrote Haradrim.  Nearby Men of Harad, friend or foe, gain 100% Damage and 100% Armour.  The Galadhrim are mad at this buff.  This demotivates Haldir, reducing his Damage, Armour, and Speed by 50%.

Level 8:  Border Sentry:  Summons the Border Sentry, who take the ring from Haldir and run off the map.  Haldir chases them, making him unable to use for the rest of the battle.

My ultimate ringhero would would be Celebrimbor for Imladris if it has to be a lore specific ring hero his powers would be:

Power 1: Switch weapon, he will switch between his sword and bow how ever his arrows would fire two at a time.

Power 2: Power of the the silver hand, Celebrimbor would turn all enemies in the area onto his side and they would gain more health and deal more damage.

Power 3: shadow kill, he will teleport into an enemy and deal heavy damage and if its a group of units he will kill teleport between each unit killing them until the whole unit is dead

Power 4: wraith blast a huge AOE similiar to word of power but it leaves a circle of blue fire once its been used

Power 5: Smith of eregion he upgrades all his fellow units with weapons made by him so all units deal extra damage and are also armoured with silver armor that gives them more defense.

However if the hero didnt have to be lore related it would be Artorias the Abysswalker from the series dark souls because he is the biggest badass ever.

Power 1: would be a passive called friend of the wolf: he would constantly be followed by his friend Sif the grey wolf and this passive also makes all beasts deal 50% more damage and have 50% more armour.

Power 2: Abysswalker: Artorias would power up with the dark energy of the abyss and launch foul curses around him damaging and posioning all nearby enemies he would also have 50% more armour while this power is active.

Power 3: Greatsword: Artorias would deal 30% more damage he would also be able to launch up into the air and slam down creating a mini AOE when he lands similar to earthquake

Power 4: Lunge: Artorias would fly across the ground into a horde of enemies knocking back all and dealing heavy damage he would then launch out an AOE of abyssal energy around him when he reaches the enemy target.

Power 5: Spinning slash: Artorias quickly spins, completing a full rotation twice. It has the potential to connect into an enemy twice deal knockback and very heavy damage.

Also he would be about the same size of Sauron and each of his attacks would be similar to Sauron's as in they will be AOE and also able to launch units into the air.

As much as I (and you as well, I hope) enjoyed the free and wild spirit of this 'rebellious thread' in this particular day, we have now to return to the common and rational reality of this forum  ;)

Albeit being so funny, this thread is, conceptually, a threat to the whole Edain World  :D
