About Lore-masters
« am: 19. Aug 2016, 01:49 »
Hi guys. I am (again) sorry I've been such a bother in the past. I'll try to stick to a (logical) point: Lore-masters. Heroes are easily managed in this game; each is unique and their icons in the bottom help a lot. Even Lothlorien healers, with their "builder" assignment work almost flawlesly. But Loremasters are kind of lacking in this respect if you notice: they are quite hard to manage! So I have not thought of many suggestions, only a change to the way they work. Maybe they can be assigned to their specialties BEFORE they come out of the Rivendell Archive/Library, I mean, maybe they can be set up before coming out and that way, there can be multiple configurations per battalion of Lore-masters! How about that, a battalion of 4 Lore-masters?

Honestly, I agree with this assessment. They truely are hard to manage, and even easy to kill. They bunch up far too tightly when used on mass too.

Either they should come as a small battalion as you suggest, or they should have FAR greater spacing (Same as Rivendell Archer Battalion) to be less vulnerable. It will make them line up better as part of army too.

I suggest using control groups, it makes any kind of micro management easier. Basically, select your lore master group and press ctrl + number that you choose. After engaging in a fight press the number and use your lore master skills. Some LM combinations are extremely OP once you learn how to manage them :).

Making Lore-masters appear as "builders" among the heroes, just like Lothlorien's minstrels is seriously a great idea! Are there any reasons not to implement that? I don't know anything about the technical aspects here.. could the fact that there are so many different combinations of Lore-masters be a problem? Can a faction have more than one type of "builder"?

They have a complelty different system. Loremasters are a horde, while minstrels are single units.

I find the loremasters useful as long as they are in a separate control group. Standing in the back while the regular soldiers take all the damage. I support the idea of having the four loremaster types be trainable in the library itself. I don't mind upgrading them after recruiting, but it doesn't really add anything either.

I think the Loremasters of Stone are my most favorite loremaster units. I often combine them with my siege weapons when attacking enemy buildings. The Loremasters of Seas, Light and Wind are useful as well, but I only make them when I have more than enough resources.

I don't like the sound effect of the Loremaster of Light. Every time Imladris attacks me with those annoying units I instantly ignore everything else I'm doing so I can get rid of them. The sound effect just bothers me, I don't know why. :D It is really a minor issue though.
