The Halls of Mandos, where all souls rest and wait.


Vast halls in the western ends of Valinórë, in which silence reigns and all surrounds,
Souls rest, mourn and for their final judgement wait, were they to be welcomed in the joyful Aman or from Eä forever depart.

Who shall now tell thy grand deeds, my beloved king?
Who shall remember thy infinite courage, your majesty?
Who shall cherish and praise thy wisdom and noble rule?
Who shall guide the Noldor through strife and time?

We shall, great lord of peoples and hosts,
Last of the mighty lineage that reigned in Aman,
High King of legends and lost splendour,
Who the dreadful fire and darkness fought, in the midst of the hardest battle of all.

From the ocean arose, by the command of the seas summoned,
To the other shore the Eldar brought, their true home and eternal desire.

The final battle took place in northernmost ends,
The Lord his host to victory led and the ghoulish commander vanquished,
While the Lady storms commanded and upon foul giants her spell cast,
Much jubilant we are now, for peace is again and over these lands rule she shall have.

Arda was then at its very spring,
And all was green, bright and alive,
Naught marred that young and sunny world,
To which the Lamps would bring Varda's eternal light.

Until the Evil from the cold Void descended and symmetry forever broke.

Far we are now from the mortal fate,
Since we last sailed to the other shore, as the Powers showed their rage,
And after the folly of a proud king with him in the sea was sunk,

Isengard, the secretive dwelling of the White Wizard.


A ring of walls, gardens and busy servants all over the place,
The mighty Dark Tower at the centre, remnant of a glorious rule,
A new master now it serves, acquainted with diverse arts and skills,
None could tell the extension of his knowledge, and the wizard often in silence remains.

Círdan, the Keeper of the Havens.


Very old he was, treading the mortal paths before the very first dawn,
Long time he fought and perils faced, when Middle-earth from the flames of war suffered,
He then had over the Grey Havens custody, and first the coming Wizards he greeted,
Near the sea, his ever-lasting love, forever he shall wait, until the last ship from these shores eventually departs.

Turukáno (Turgon) contests a Balrog of Morgoth.


Thou, ill flame and dark fire,
Thou, once of the Angels a noble spirit,
I shall never forsake my fair city,
I shall slay thee and your fell kind I forever curse.

Gondor, the keeper of glory and hope.


By one of the two royal Twins founded, Númenor then fell and from memories was erased,
If not for the proud twin-realms of the mortal shores,
Of which now only Gondor endured and strife withstood,
Of Men the last stronghold of glory and hope.

According to vague and distant rumours, a gruesome power established itself within the eastern woods.


A long and motionless millennium after,
A shadow the great forests of the World its lair made,
This the people of the woods tell,
In doubt and fear, which passing days broader render.

War in the North: the coming of Winter.


Ten centuries following the great wars of the past,
Between the valiant free and the former tyrant,
On peace and solace the World has perhaps become too much reliant,
For in the North something in secrecy lurks, and a bitter winter fell, which forever seems to last.
