A cold shelter

A warm home was not, in truth,
It seemed to be the proper soil to plan new adventures in,
Adventures of might, valour and glory,
There was glory and valour,
All was to be mingled with the grievous taste of sorrow, however,
The quest had a price which each hero would be to pay,
Death an enormous toll of unbearable weight,
Bent was the suffering back of the Noldo,
Who never thought to kneel or bow, nevertheless,
Ambition left space for survival, the shelter got cold and hostile.

Resentment of old

A pale shade of brightness in the abyss,
Dungeons and deep stairs, such that captives them do not miss,
Witchcraft has taken over the place, amassed by a force wild and raw,
Mind that plans, unbeknownst to the most, willing to stir terror and woes sow.

Beware, sorcerer of ill fortune, and may you fear those powers that order keep,
Those who do not kneel, nor are they ruled by your nasty whip,
A pale shade of brightness it might be, yet resolute to do justly and contest the fire,
Your evil means, which burns wood and chokes the air, letting ash carry the false speech of a great liar.

Buried deep, we hope

Away from the kind remembrance of ours,
Far in entombed memory, the vision of great fires,
A world in trouble, the thunder rumbles,
Ancient order, built and kept well, which now miserably crumbles,
Why does the marred have to come back? Why?
So common, yet hard to grasp, as birds that fly,
We hope that unrest will never pave its way again,
Into the present that we cherish, whose new day just began.

Crowned by light

Hail the newly-found king and behold!
The hero of the age, heir to a throne of old,
He shall rule over marble and stone, restoring our might,
He was crowned by an emissary of hope, clothed with pure brightness and light.

Life you gave

Life you gave within that forbidden wall,
Shield of that joy, kept sound, away from lands in wicked thrall,
Life you gave to those vast plains, soon to be harbours of everlasting green and wheat,
There, in your Immaculate Reign, where one sings joyfully the realm that was made lit.

He came and green withered

He came, once, unseen,
The wiseman said it was woe brought by our sin,
To punish whom had been chained by greed,
Vile and wicked, not to be freed.

Incorrect words, I would say,
For justice comes rarely in such a guise, as breezing chill which kills anything green and devours hay,
Product of our toil, mocked and slain by thick ice,
When fell cold took our lands, at the command of a cruel rule, reign of chaos and vice.

I dreamt and longed for

I saw it mine,
Sound and fine,
Final gift,
One that even stone may lift,
Beacon of hope, I thought,
After the battle that I fought,
Goal and my desire,
Gently begged, as the old sire,
Alas, that was not be,
Not something all were to see.

Why does the Sun die?
Beyond the horizon, where marvel is said to lie,
Marvel and pearl beyond the waves,
We behold light that fades,
Across the western ends,
Where all mends,
We believe, told by tales,
Seas untainted, populated by whales,
I dreamt and longed for peace, on serenity keen,
Marble and stone, may they find rest, one day, without sin.

A passing monarch of Gondor entrusts his last words to his people.

Forsaken you are not

Forsaken you are not and never should one feel left and deprived of hope,
For hope nourishes you in ways that are for the most unknown,
Ways which even the loyal Angel may not comprehend,
Complete science of things was not granted and in no way will it be.

The One knows all,
Being its dear Plan its own thought,
Vision which we shared, in the primeval hour,
We did share a glance and enough it was.

I hear your pleas and beside the vexed I have ever stood,
Next to your king, the King of Arda,
I am the Queen of the Hallowed Fields, Varda,
The spirit of endurance I send you, so that it brings light to empty void and kindles the mood.

Crying against the abyss of silence

I cried against the abyss of silence,
Seeking response, as the philosopher with his lens,
It could not be, not within glory,
How could the fortress fall, in such a fury?
I cried again, hoping to hear life in the dark,
But death ruled over all, and it was stark,
Only corpses hidden by dense dust,
Impious end for such dwellers, being ruin fast,
Those mines serve other masters now, or none at all,
Hold your mouth and keep it shut, for there is naught decent to call.

Until valiant souls guard its halls

Thunder may rumble from afar and lightning the heavens wound,
For ill storm cometh, to wreak havoc and reap what was woefully sown,
The stronghold shall not break, however, until valiant souls guard its halls and from evil the door keep shut,
Until our heart is to make for a fortress that menace doth not fear nor bow to.

Let me go, I beg

It is just time for us to part,
My love, you shall have your valley in sound government still,
Centuries are yet to pass, innumerable nights and cold winters from which your temple will not suffer,
May you enjoy merry time with our children of hope,
I shall not partake in such a bliss,
Not in the bliss of the decaying realm of this world,
World that tested me and proved unbearable burden to withstand,
My soul is broken and marred, alas,
Naught of your knowledge might help me recover,
I bid farewell to Arda, then, aboard a ship in the guise of a swan.

Give a kiss to them and shelter our kin behind secure ends, for much they have to give and they too are to share the quest which this era is to close.

Light as the vessels journeying the waves

Zitat
Take the blade of the Foam-riders with thee, Grey Wizard. It is silver, light as our vessels that voyage beyond the blue, yet dreadful token for whom dareth hinder the will of the Western Lords. Thou shalt bear it, along thy hazardous journeys and whither thy mission is to lead thee, until thy hand shall wield a mightier craft, made by grievous exiled and borne by a king dwelling in legend.

This piece is part of a more elaborate proposal of the forum, of which this passage explores the fictional lore and founds those premises that are needed for the economy of the very story: not only is Gandalf gifted the Ring of Fire by Círdan, but the Guardian of the Havens bestowed a mighty blade upon the wizard; item which, as the old Elf had foreseen, is to serve the Istar's cause greatly, until Gandalf is led to discover another blade from the forgotten places of the world. A sword that lies abandoned and forsaken, albeit it being blessed by the legend of a heroic past.

A clarification on the title given to the Teleri ('Foam-riders') is necessary: it is a word from Tolkien himself and just tells the reader how the Elven kind, to whom the sea is dearest, boasts unsurpassed skills in naval craft and sea voyages.

Song raised roots, tears watered and light thou gavest

Silence fell on all, within the Immaculate Reign,
The Archangels stood quiet and fain,
Imperishable lands could not suffer such feeble radiance, far and merest,
Song raised roots, thus, tears watered them and light eventually thou gavest.

Its hold on the land is still firm

Woes to us, in case the kingdom should give in,
Renowned stables, now decayed and left haunted by a wailing being,
Consolation we do not dispose of, lone and trapped,
An enemy moves war, unseen and unbeknownst, disguised and in mystery wrapped.

Disguised as a crow of ruin, bearer of ill words that stir trouble,
He summons more foes to his court, dwellers of huts, not used to stone nor marble,
May aid come and arrive soon, while the adversary makes weapons out of raw ore,
A demon has taken the mind of the king, in the hour of hazard, as its hold is still firm and chains our lore.

Do not, for it will bring ruin

Do not ever try to bend the Ring to wicked purpose,
My gentle Hobbit, only the ill-spirited desires the chaining of others,
If trained and moved by will, one could be doom for the other bearers and undo their magic,
Do not, for it will bring ruin and much desolation.

Desolation we do not want, any longer,
This weary world has greatly suffered and lain in sorrow,
None but the humble shall undertake the task,
Evil forces loathe the common wisdom of simple souls, never bound or in a cage trapped.
