Dwarven Battlewagons: Your Feedback

(1/2) > >>

Joragon:
Let us know what you think about the new battlewagons here!

AulëTheSmith:
Hi Edain team; a stunning work! (**) i like all the new features of the battle wagons because they fit perfectly with each faction theme. You applied the same logic of uniqueness that is a characteristic of the new patch also to the chariot with optimal results!! Many praises both for the ideas and for Joragon who bring back to life the art in Edain style! Few questions for you guys, to fulfill my curiosity:
 - Is the barrel keg animation made from scratch or there were an existing one?
 - Bolt-thrower: does it engage the targets automatically? if so, have you cosidered during the work in progress to make it an active abiliy? Something like Legolas' Rain of arrows but less powerful in damage, which resamble a repeating weapon :)
- Is the Ered Luin chariot a bit faster than the other ones matching further the theme of the faction?
Thank you for all the passion and work you put in the new BWs!  xD

Joragon:
I'm glad you like it!

Thank you for the answer Joragon!
It should have been a tough work i can imagine! As far as i know it's a long and tedious process to make a new animation. Excellent work!  xD

Btw great choice of picture in the update. Clearly inspired by the sequences of BOTFA. I can also see the hobbit-style wargs, which we will see in the future in MM faction :P :P

First of all, I must say a big THANK YOU to all Edain Team and both German/English members who helped for the creation of the wagon. As a die hard Dwarf ( Iron Hills ) player and fan, this is deff a pleasant surprise both for aesthetic look of the Edain Dwarves and gameplay overhaul.
What I found and would propose on the wagon for its unique upgrades is this: ( still don't know weather it is finalized concept or will the community agrees )
It says that With the "Wheel Blades" Erebor will furthermore strengthen its offensive play stile and with the "Trophy" Iron Hills will again bolster its tanky dwarves via weakening their enemies in terms of leadership and damage. It may sound good for having both heavy version and melee specialist wagon for the appropriate realms. But, if we consider their overall units, I personally find those upgrades a little odd because why not we have one unit ( wagon ) with strong support, defensive and armor increased value serving Erebor glass cannon units while Iron Hills receive strong melee wagon to further support its already damage absorbing infantry ? Moreover, with the current new spell "Weapon Arts of the Dwarves" which increase dmg, attack for further 15%, wouldn't Iron Hills be even more tanky or Erebor even more melee focused ? Another problem may occur with the "War Mask" upgrade that Erebor warriors posses and deals the same effect as the trophy. I leave it for all to decide on this.
I propose a simple switch of the Erebor "Wheel Blade" to be placed for Iron Hills and the Iron Hills "Trophy" upgrade for Erebor.
That is my only concern.
Overall, as said on Mod DB, the 1 year waiting was worth it. Simply amazed how everything is getting back to the spirit of the great "old days" of Edain. Again, much support for all your efforts
