Final Fantasy VII Remake

(1/1)

Shagrat:

so, now some more points, warning rambly
overall the first part "foreshadows" (which it at parts does as subtile as a movie trailer with 1/2 of the good movie scenes) faaar too much, especially with Sephiroth THAT present... instead of arrrinving only after Sephiroth killed President Shinra, you're there... and then fight Jenova... And THEN you fight Rufus Shinra.

remember the whole "Captured and then making your way slowly to President Shinra while the corridors are covered in blood? Yeah, gone. Cloud gets to the lift that leads to Jenova, blacks out, Red XIII and co. go to Aerith and Ifalna's Old Room, and then you need to get through a looooong part of Hojo's lab. Then you get to Pres. Shinra, but no blood but instead blue goo from Jenova. Instead of finding the old man dead, he's hanging from the edge of his balcony and only after a cutscene he gets stabbed...

and for Rufus, unlike in the original this time Cloud is fighting alone... and if you try to melee him, at least at first, he pulls of a counter and just shoots you a few times... and since you're fighting him and Dark Star, they gang up on you while you don't ahve a second character for healing etc..

a lot of the stuff that had looong build up in FF VII (OR COMPILATION) just gets casually lobbed at you towards the end... great for new guys... The stuff that used to be "WHAT?!" and "Ah!" is now just "here, Look at it!" INCLUDING the reveal ofZack before Midgar with the buster Sword...

Gotta say... in overall terms it feels like "too much" (due to what feels like... PADDING) for what is essentially the Prologue to the full adventure, but kinda alsoe not enough for a standalone game.

also... it seems to be an alternate timeline or include ALTERING the timeline... Didn't they advertise it as "Faithful recreation"... bet it was because of the folks who so desperately wanted to save Arith.

Overall feels as if a certian Keyblade Graveyard Scene in KH 3 was the blueprint for the FF VII Remake

non-story, gameplay, Boss fights:
what also really annoys me are "phase changing" boss fights... to deal REAL damage, you need to get your opponent into a "shocked" state... to do that oyu need to fill a gage... when the phase changes, guess what happens? gauge/Bar empties, if the enemy is in shocked state that's gone... maybe also short time invulnerability... yeeeey... fuuun and engaging boss fights... Are you dishing out a concentrated load of punihsmend including a limit? Sorry, all of that damage is not getting dealt when boss his tht ethreshold... but you won't get the MP, the limit or the ATB back!

not limited to bosses, but still applies: if you get thrown around while trying to perform an attack, it can get cancelled... you loose all the stuff you invested, but the attack/spell won't be triggered... considering how hectic some of the fights can be and how finnicky the cam can be at points, or how... of limtied use the dodge because it's a rather short distance, it's plain annoying... how bad is dodging? Imagine you're trying to hit a spell or abiltiy with a longer wind up time and the enemy is casting on you just as you start... the range of the dodge sometimes is not enough to get you out of the blast area...
