Edain Mod 4.5.4 released!

Greetings, companions of Edain!

Today we released patch 4.5.4 for the demo of Edain version 4.0. You can download it by using the update-function in your Edain Launcher.

In case you don't have a version of Edain installed already, you first have to download the basic version as a complete package by clicking on the banner below. After installing Edain, use the Update Function of the Edain Launcher to get the latest version. You may have to update several times until the launcher shows that no newer version is available anymore.

New upgrade system for Rivendell

The levelling of Imladris' buildings is now more flexible: Instead of all buildings gaining a level upon researching all studies, different buildings are now bound to the different studies. Forges gain a level upon researching Blacksmithing Studies. Authors' Halls gain a level upon researching Mystical Studies. Military buildings gain a level upon researching Military Studies. And external buildings gain a level upon researching the new Agricultural Studies, that improve the defenses of Hobbitfarms on top of that. Erestor has been reworked as well and will now remain in the target building until he is evacuated, granting unique bonuses to each different building.



New units for Mirkwood

The Mirkwood outpost offers a new unit in 4.5.4: The Mirkwood Spearmen now serve as the tanky cavalry counter, a role that was previously occupied by Palace Guards. While the former complete the unit roster for Thranduil's kingdom, the latter are now Mirkwood's heroic unit to stress their status as the most elite defenders of the kingdom. Their new abilities are fantastic for protecting either the royal family and the outpost itself from enemies. All Mirkwood units received optical updates as well, and the buildings also shine in a new light.



Gloin

Gloin was a bit lacklustre for a hero focusing on destroying buildings and supporting sieges. In 4.5.4, his leadership was improved and he received an exciting new starting ability. His leadership now heals machines in his proximity and makes infantry in medium radius immune to the damage of defensive structures - even a small group of dwarves now poses a serious threat to enemy camps without defending units. And to get this small group of Dwarves into position, he now has the ability to open a Sally Gate at any targeted building. For ten seconds, any units inside the tunnel system can be evacuated through this gate - ideal for laying waste to enemy bases with the powerful dwarves of the Lonely Mountain!


Bugfixes

A big part of Edain 4.5.4 are the bugfixes. We are happy to say that we identified the cause of the very colourful CaH and subsequently fixed it; fortress maps should now also be working as intended again. This includes our horde maps as well, so you can hunt your point records again!


Maps
We added several new maps in 4.5.4 as well. Celebrant is a new 8-player map, showing the river and its surrounding area north of Lorien. Swan Fleet is a 3-player map ideally suited for Free For All matches, and Valleys of the Celduin is a 6-player map following the second longest river in Middle-Earth. All new maps can be seen in this trailer!

General:
-Citadel rebuild cost from 1000 to 800
-Archer armor against cavalry weakened by 25%
-Horse Shields now improve armor against swordsmen by 25% and against arrows by 50% - no longer buffs against pikes
-Archer attack range reduced from 340/395/450 to 330/365/400 (low/medium/high range)
-Lumbermill workers can carry more wood (=higher income)
-Spearmen armor against monsters improved by 25%
-Cooldown of fear expansions (Watcher, Lanterns) increased from 30 seconds to 45 seconds
-Insta-repair for special outposts removed


Gondor:
-Increased Taxes cost reduced from 900 to 600, researchtime reduced from 90 seconds to 60 seconds
-Rebuild cooldown reduced from 210 seconds to 180 seconds
-DA fortress buildcost reduced from 2000 to 1500
-The first errand rider will spawn much faster, recruitment time of fiefdom units also reduced


Rohan:
-Gamling HP reduced from 4500 to 3500
-Cloudbreak cost reduced from six to five spellpoints
-Three Hunters cost reduced from six to five spellpoints
-Spearthrowers rate of fire reduced by 0,5 seconds


Mordor:
-Nazgulbatallion cost reduced from 2400 to 2000
-Trolls building damage reduced from 300 to 240
-Trolls cost increased from 600 to 800
-Troll upgrades cost reduced from 400/300 to 300/200
-Tol-in-Gauroth fires less frequently and no longer produces resources
-Tol-in-Gauroth armor changed to citadelarmor (lots more damage by melee units)
-Call the Horde reduced from seven to six spellpoints
-Overseers cooldown increased by 30 seconds


Isengard:
-Lurtz & Ugluk cost increased from 1400 to 1700
-Lurtz Carnage radius halfed (now equal to Aragorn's Blademaster)
-Lurtz armorset changed to edainarcherheroarmor
-Uruk Hunters cost reduced from 350 to 250
-Saruman lvl 3 experience gain reduced from 111 to 90
-Crossbows damage reduced from 58 to 50
-Crossbows buildtime increased from 30 seconds to 37 seconds
-Warg sentry health reduced by 25% and respawn delay increased to 30 seconds
-Grima buildcost increased to 1100
-Steelworks cost reduced to 3000
-Minions of the White Hand now reduce the armor of other Minions within a wide radius by 50%


Lothlorien:
-Mirkwood cost increased from 800 to 1200
-Mirkwood buildings cost increased: Troop chambers to 600, Winecellar to 600, Vault of the King to 800
-Combat training bonuses now add up to max. +100%, up from +50%
-Treacherous as the Sea damage significantly reduced
-Heart Tree hp increased from 1000 to 3500
-Galadriel spells cooldown increased from 540 seconds to 630 seconds
-Haldir buildcost increased to 1600


Dwarves:
-Heroes no longer require Elite Equipment to be researched
-Dragonslayers friendly fire removed
-Gimli Leap damage increased from 120 to 160
-Gloin Hammer of Destruction damage increased from 2000 to 3000
-HP and damage of summoned Beorn increased a lot
-Beorns Battlecry stun duration increased from 7 seconds to 10 seconds
-Gimli and Dain Ironfoot hp increased from 4500 to 5500
-Dwalin cost reduced from 2500 to 2000
-Arkenguard health and damage slightly increased
-Last stand duration increased from 20s to 30s
-Gandalf stun radius upon summon increased
-Dale and Laketown no longer need barracks to produce units; barracks now increase production speed by 30% and enable the recruitment of Bard/Brand

-Werwolves take 25% more damage from pikes
-Sorcerers commandpoints reduced from 120 to 90

Imladris:

-Dunedain outpost: Recruitment camp increases training speed by 30%

-Traveling Camp levels up faster
-Gil Galad's Vilya cooldown increased
-Elronds Rage of the Loudwater now starts with three horses and is improved at level 5 and 10 by one additional horse each

After the release we found some serious bugs on the maps and uploaded a small fix for them. If you already downloaded the new version, you can update it now. If you haven't downloaded it, it will automatically be in the download.
The following bugs are fixed:
 - The whole map is visible on Celebrant and Valleys of the Celduin
 - Some creeps are not attackable on Valleys of the Celduin
 - Gollum is not available on Valleys of the Celduin
 - Sauron can't level up on Horde maps.
