Greetings, companions of Edain!

Today we released patch 4.5.5 for the demo of Edain version 4.0. You can download it by using the update-function in your Edain Launcher.

In case you don't have a version of Edain installed already, you first have to download the basic version as a complete package by clicking on the banner below. After installing Edain, use the Update function of the Edain Launcher to get the latest version. You may have to update several times until the launcher shows that no newer version is available anymore.

Bugfixes
The new update is another fixpatch on our way to 4.6. It takes care of a load of bugs and introduces lots of other smaller changes, introducing a multitude of balance changes with the goal of buffing less attractive heroes while making actual herospam less worthwile. To give you a few examples: Rivendell's Blademasters are now their starting unit and have swapped places with Swordsmen, several tasks of Sauron's leveling system were adjusted, the economy was strengthened and heroes got more expensive in exchange for that and much more. General:
-Unit HP reduced by 15-20%
-Damage of defensive structures reduced by 15-20%
-Building damage of catapults increased by ~66%
-Catapults are now unable to move for 3,5 seconds after firing
-Minimum range of fortress catapults increased by 20%
-Hero bounties reduced from 200/400/600 to 100/150/200
-Economy buildings are now more vulnerable to cavalry
-Inflation reduced
-Spellpoints are now generated more slowly, the more spellpoints you have
-Leveling bonuses for heroes from level six to ten reduced to 2% more damage/health
-Heroes gain exp slightly slower
-Citadel resource gain reduced from +50 to +40
-Wells now only regenerate soldiers for a single unit at a time, but twice as fast and with lower cooldown
-Elite Archers damage and HP reduced by 15%
-Cavalry armor buffed against archers from 100% to 65%
-Summoned units and heroes now give significantly less experience
-Monsters now give significantly less experience at higher levels
-Elite monsters now give overall less experience

Gondor:
-Signalfires buildcost reduced to 400
-Barrage spellpoint cost increased from two to three
-Barrage now does 75% more damage to buildings
-AotD cooldown increased from 720s to 830s
-AotD lifetime reduced from 60s to 45s
-Lone Tower spellpoint cost reduced from 3 to 2
-Ranger tents no longer cloak or discount Rangers, but discount Composite Bows now
-Dol Amroth Fortress is now more resistant against melee attacks

Rohan:
-Treebeard leadership nerfed from +100% damage to +75%
-Eomer's scavenger generates less resources
-Haycarts buildcost reduced to 200
-King's Camp additionally grants +750 HP
-Hour of Glory cooldown reduced from 180s to 120s
-Highborn Warhorses now affects cavalry from level two onwards
-The Three Hunters now appear at the edge of the map once the spell is purchased

Isengard:
-Industry duration reduced from 300s to 210s
-Sorcerer's Tower income bonus reduced from +200% to +100%
-War Machinery level two research duration increased from 60s to 75s
-War Machinery level two no longer increases production speed
-War Machinery level three now increases production speed by an additional 20%
-Fuel the Fires cooldown reduced from 630s to 540s
-Saruman Lightning Bolt damage reduced by 25% (33% for Saruman with Many Colors)
-Uruk Hunters level up more quickly
-Sharku can now cast Blood Hunt on the move
-Blood Hunt additionally grants +100% experience
-Scent of Blood now grants +50% armor instead of experience
-Blood Wargs are now available at a Warg Pit level two
-Tainted Land additionally offers fear resistance

Mordor:
-Overseer armor buff nerfed (bugfix)
-Orc Fighters with Overseers now deal increased damage only to pikes when their ability is active
-Castellan aoe removed
-Necromancer ranged damage reduced
-His Deadliest Servants spellpoint cost reduced from five to four
-Necromancer HP reduced from 4500 to 3500
-Mollok regenerates health more quickly
-Gothmogs Strenghten the Line cooldown reduced from 180s to 120s
-Mollok now prioritizes hitting in melee over trampling enemies
-Ring Hunter armorset improved
-Banner of the Red Eye regenerates two fallen soldiers per unit
-Necromancer respawntime increased to 150s
-Necromancer Wall of Fire reworked, now increases his aoe fire damage temporarily
-Shagrat only causes aoe damage if Greed is active
-Compulsive Cooperation moved from level 5 to 6
-Nazgul experience gain increased from 20 to 100
-Tol-in-Gauroth poison damage massively reduced
-Orc pikes buildcost reduced to 150
-Cirith Ungol barracks buildcost reduced to 600
-Changes to Sauron's Expansion of Power:

* Required Overseer amount reduced from 10 to 6
* Required level of Gothmog/Mollok reduced from 10 to 5
* "Recruit the Mouth of Sauron" replaced by "Equip four archers with Fire Arrows or four trolls with Troll Armor"
Dwarves:
-Battlewagon barrel now drops off from 200 to 100
-Bolt Thrower damage reduced from 175 to 125
-Battlewagon armor nerfed against monsters, cavalry and heroes
-Gandalf damage increased by ~25%
-Earthquake knocks down enemies more frequently
-Nori Ambush moved from level 8 to 10, damage reduced by 50%
-Iron Breakers armor nerf with Mattocks removed, instead attack 40% slower
-IH crossbows formation nerfed (bugfix)

Imladris:
-Blade Masters are the new starting unit
-Blade Masters and Swordsmen swapped places in the barracks
-Single target damage of Blade Masters increased
-Radius of Miruvor reduced from 200 to 140
-Buildcost of units of the Last Alliance increased
-Dunedain outpost HP reduced from 4000 to 3000
-Dunedain outpost damage reduced by 25%
-Dunedain outpost only regenerates a single battalion in range of the well
-Tom Bombadil armor buffed

Lothlorien:
-Ambush duration increased to 30s
-Haldir's leadership moved to level 6 from 5, Golden Arrow to 4 from 3
-Refuge in the Woods spellpoint cost reduced from 3 to 2
-Rumil/Orophin buildcost reduced from 300 to 250
-Combat Training research cost reduced to 250/400/500
-Beorning armor while in bear form buffed
-All heroes are revived more quickly
-Concealing Fog radius reduced from 800 to 450
-Singers now already provide fear resistance with only one of them present

Angmar:
-Wights melee damage against cavalry doubled
-Turncoats of Arnor lifetime increased from 30s to 60s
-Gundabad warrior melee damage increased by 33%
-Angmar battering rams CP reduced to 10
-Wolf Dens level up more quickly
-Barracks level up more slowly
-Thrallmaster HP increased from 542 to 800
-Officer bonus for thrallmasters reduced from +200% HP to+ 150% HP
-Werewolves no longer slow down while trampling
-Mornamarth and Sorcerers now offer fear resistance through their abilities
-Melee damage of most heroes reduced by ~25% (the new tiers are: 400/300/260/200/120)

Buildcost and abilities adjusted as follows:
Gondor:

* Gandalf from 3000 to 4000: Glamdring now fires two bolts, Word of Power damage dropoff reduced
* Aragorn from 2500 to 3000
* Faramir from 1400 to 1700: Captain of Gondor moved from level nine to seven
* Boromir from 1800 to 2100
* Beregond from 1100 to 1300: Keep Standing and leadership swapped
* Denethor from 1400 to 1700
* Imrahil from from 1500 to 1700: Prince of Dol Amroth moved to level one, For Honor to level three & additionally increases trample damage, Discipline moved to level six
Rohan:

* Eomer from 1600 to 2300
* Gamling from 1200 to 1500
* Eowyn from 1200 to 1800
* Hama from 1200 to 1500, healing from Indefatigable increased from 5 HP to 10 HP
* Theodred: swapped his level 4 and level 6 abilities, tower spawns more and stronger soldiers, cooldown reduced from 240s to 150s
Isengard:

* Lurtz: 1700 to 2000
* Ugluk: 1700 to 2000
* Grima: 1100 to 1300
* Sharkû: 1200 to 1500, HP increased to 4500, damage reduced
* Saruman: 3000 to 4000, HP from 4500 to 3500
* Wulfgar: Buildcost reduced to 750, damage reduced from 360 to 200, "Revenge on Rohan" and "Spears from Dunland" swapped, the latter now turns Wildmen into Dunland pikemen with a very short cooldown of 20s
Mordor:

* Gothmog: 1200 to 1500, leadership changed from 15/15 to 30/0
* Nazgul: 1300 to 1600
* Mouth of Sauron: 2000 to 2400
* Khamûl: 1600 to 2000
* Mollok: Swapped Leap and Shatterer
* Witch-King: 2000 to 2500
Angmar:

* Hwaldar: 1100 to 1300, Bloodlust additionally increases the range of his leadership
* Helegwen: 1400 to 1700
* Karsh: Damage type changed from from MAGIC to HERO
* Mornamarth: 1500 to 1800
* Durmarth: 1800 to 2000
* Gulzar: 1500 to 1700
* Zaphragor: 2500 to 3000
* Witch-King: 3000 to 4000, Harbinger of Winter radius increased, aoe radius of his attacks increased from 20 to 24

* Grimbeorn: 2000 to 2300, trample damage increased from 65 to 150, Survival Instinct and Deadly Bite swapped, Survival Instinct healing increased, radius of his Bees reduced and damage significantly increased

Imladris:

* The Twins: 1600 to 1800
* Arwen: 1300 to 1500

* Halbarad: 1200 to 1500, unlocks Banner Carriers at level 3, Forged Blades/Fire Arrows at level 5, leadership at level 7

Erebor:
* King Dain from 2600 to 3000, Burst of Rage cooldown reduced from 60s to 25s
* Gimli from 2500 to 3000
* Thorin III. from 2000 to 2300, HP from 4500 to 5500
Ered Luin:
* Bofur from 1500 to 1800
* Balin from 1600 to 1700
* Dwalin from 2000 to 2400, axe damage reduced and radius increased, Mighty Blow radius increased, Oin and Gloin damage reduced but radius increased
* Thorin from 3000 to 3500
Iron Hills:
* Dain from 2600 to 3000, Rupturing Strike can now be placed freely
* Drar from 1300 to 2100
* Murin from 1400 to 2100
* Thorin III. from 2000 to 2300, HP from 4500 to 5500
Murin and Drar
The two heroes from the Iron Hills both have a new concept with several new abilities to support the tough dwarven infantry. They not only fill the role of supporters for the Iron Hills which was emptry since Dain's rework, allowing them to make the best use of their melee superiority, but also offer each other powerful bonuses when both are on the battlefield.


New and improved skins
Another treat in 4.5.5 are several new skins - especially the ents and elves received multiple improvements, for example these skilled warriors from the Mirkwood realm:
 

Meaningful tooltips
4.5.5 offers much improved descriptions of many units and heroes that give detailed insights into their characters. Originally planned as an improvement for 4.6, they are too good not to share already. From direct quotes from the books to descriptions of their greatest deeds, you can also learn the Sindarin or Khuzdul names of elven and dwarven units.



But what about the Misty Mountains?
If you were following our updates on the Road to 4.6, you will have seen that we made great progress. That being said, neither the new faction of the Misty Mountains nor the campaigns and reworks in the War of the Ring gamemode are ready to be released yet. It will still take some time until they are finished. But after 4.5, where several years passed without a new version of Edain, we want to avoid another similarly frustrating situation. That's why we decided to take all the changes for the other eight factions that were already fully implemented and release them with 4.5.5. Think of it as a pit stop on the road to 4.6 to make waiting easier.

Today we released a fix for the version 4.5.5 that addresses the issues with the Imladris AI and the War of the Ring gamemode. You can download this patch through the update function of the Edain launcher.

The Imladris AI didn't act as it should have so far in 4.5.5 due to a tricky bug that we were now able to fix, meaning it should again be a worthy opponent or strong ally in your skirmishes. We were also able to fix the bug with the War of the Ring gamemode that caused maps to appear black, builders to appear and even crash the game entirely from time to time. Both issues should be resolved with this update.

We also want to take the opportunity and advertise a tournament organized by the community: The Edain Ranked Open Cup 2021 is about to start and offers you once again the opportunity to prove your skills and conquer your enemies. As we have done in the past, we also want to give out prizes to the best players: The top 8 will gain access to our internal beta version, where they can take a good look at the upcoming Misty Mountains faction and test them in battle.
