Hello together,
now that 4.5.5 has been released it’s our honour to announce another big Edain tournament.
This event will be an approximately two-month long tournament based on Edain Ranked.



What do you need to know?

Registration begins now, you have two weeks to sign up.
To do so simply post a message in the thread with your Gameranger ID as well as your Discord ID.
You also have to join the Edain Group Discord to not miss further information. That is the German discord server – not the English one: https://discord.gg/GmGUVN6
 
You also need an account on the Edain Ranked website:http://edainranked.com/

For the tournament bracket we will use the program “Challonge”.
The tournament tree will be published there (the link will be posted in the Discord at the given time). It will be used to determine the groups and the following matches.
Registration ends on the 8. of August 2021 at 23:59 CET!
By signing up you automatically accept the tournament rules. Please read them carefully.

Expected Schedule:
9. of August until 5. of September: Group stage
The knockout stage starts thereafter, each round lasts one week.


Rules

§1 General

The Edain Ranked Open Cup will be played with the game “BFME 2” with the add-on “RotWK” with the “Edain mod”.
The players are required to have a valid version of these game as well as the patch 4.5.5  with the fixpatch of the Edain mod in order to participate.

Every player has to act fair and respectfully towards other players and organizers. Opposite behavior can lead to immediate disqualification.

Every game played in the tournament will be uploaded to Edain Ranked and affect your ELO there.

All rules are subject to change, if necessary, during the tournament.


§ 2 Course of the tournament

 §2.1 Definitions
Round= Section of the tournament (Group stage, quarter-finals)
Match= Meeting of two players (in Bo1, Bo3, Bo5 or Bo7 format)
Game= One 1v1 on a specific Map with one winner, who earns one Point

 §2.2 Group stage

There will be between 4 and 16 groups (depending on the number of total players) with max. 4 players each.
The date and time of the group matches will the organized by the players themselves and will be posted in the channel on the Edain Group. This should be done at least one day before the Match.
The matches of the group stage will be played in the best of 1 format (only one game).

After all matches are played the first two of each group will move on, the others are eliminated.
If a player does not show up to play his games within the three weeks he will be eliminated.


 § 2.3 Knockout stage

For the knockout stage, the remaining players will be randomly put into a final tournament tree. This tree will be used for the rest of the tournament.
The date and time of the matches will be given by the organizers. If you can’t play at the given time contact the organization to find another date.

The matches of the knockout stage will be played in the best of 3 format.
The semi-finale and the match for the third place will be played in the best of 5 format.
The finale will be played in the best of 7 format.


§3 Neutral host

The neutral host will take the role of the match leader as well. He has to make sure the “pick and ban”-process goes as planned. His orders are to be followed.



§4 Bugusing, cheating and smurfing

Every kind of bugusing, cheating and smurfing is forbidden. Breaking any rule will have consequences, that can lead up to disqualification.


§5 Disconnect and gamecrash

In case of a gamecrash or disconnect the neutral host will decide who probably would have won. If that is not possible the game will be repeated. If there is no neutral host the players have to either agree on a winner by themselves or if the game will be repeated.
If the players can’t reach an agreement, please contact the organizers.


§6 Spectators

Only casters and referees named by the organization, are allowed to watch the games “ingame”.


§7 Streams and recordings
The games will be streamed on YouTube and/or Twitch by the Organizations. The respective links will be shared on Discord at the given time.
By signing up for the tournament you automatically accept that your games will be streamed and commentated.
Streamers from within the community are welcome to apply as well. To do so please contact the organizers

§8 Replays

All replays have to be saved and are going to be uploaded on Edain Ranked and in the Google-Docs-Document shared on the Edain Group Server.
Rules for the game

Every game consists of two parts.
The pick and ban phase and the playing phase.
After every game, the replay has to be saved.
During the pick and ban phase both players choose (“pick”) a faction to play and ban one or two factions for their opponent. The exact procedure of the pick and ban are explained below.

General

Every map can only be played once during a match.
Every faction can only be played once by each player during a match.
Every faction can only be banned once during a match (by the same player).
A banned faction is only banned for the next game, not the entire match.
The bans only count for the other player.
Who player 1 and player 2 is will be given by the tournament bracket. In the group stage it is determined at random who is player 1 and who is player 2.

The process of pick and ban:

Bo1 in the group stage

Can be played with or without neutral host.
Without neutral host:
· Player 1 is the host and picks the map.
· Player 1 bans two factions.
· Player 2 bans two factions.
· Player 1 chooses a faction and tells his opponent his choice.
· Player 2 chooses his faction.
With neutral host:
· The first map is determined randomly
· Both players ban two factions and send them to the host in private.
· The Bans are announced by the host 
· Both players choose a faction and send it to the host in private.

Best of 3 (round of 32, round of 16, round of 8)

A neutral host is obligatory.
· The first map is determined randomly
· Both players ban two factions and send them to the host in private.
· The Bans are announced by the host 
· Both players choose a faction and send it to the host in private.
· In the second game the loser of game 1 chooses the map and the steps 2-4 are repeated.
· If there is a third game the map will be chooses randomly by the host and the steps 2-4 are repeated.

Best of 5 (semi-finals, game of the third place)

A neutral host is obligatory.
· The first map is determined randomly
· Both players ban one faction and send it to the host in private.
· The Bans are announced by the host 
· Both players choose a faction and send it to the host in private.
· In the next games the loser of the game before chooses the map and steps 2-4 are repeated
· If there is a fifth game the map is chosen randomly by the host again and steps 2-4 are repeated

Best of 7 (Finals)

A neutral host is obligatory.
· The first map is determined randomly
· Both players ban one faction and send it to the host in private.
· The Bans are announced by the host 
· Both players choose a faction and send it to the host in private.
· In the next games the loser of the game before chooses the map and steps 2-4 are repeated
· In the last game the map is chosen randomly by the host again and steps 2-4 are repeated

Mappool:

The Mappool consists exclusively of custom maps created by Birds and Brechstange for the tournament. We hope to have a fresh experience of multiplayer games on new maps that we haven’t already see way too many times.
