In this thread, you can post small map suggestions. There are no fixed rules for whether a suggestion should be posted as its own thread in the suggestions forums or in this collective thread, you  may decide yourself whether you think your idea needs its own thread. As a general guideline, though, an idea that can be presented in just a couple of sentences may not need its own thread and could be discussed here, preventing the forum from getting too cluttered. On the other hand, if you want to discuss an aspect of the game in great depth or propose something like an entirely new map, a new thread might be more appropriate.

When I play the map Aldburg it isn't possible to buy Horseman Shields and Firearrows for the units, is this normal?

Hello! I think it would be cool to have some special features in certain maps, for example, making Gondor's Fiefdom troops recruitable in certain maps like Belfalas and Anfalas, or making Haradrims and Easterlings recruitable in Rhûn or Harad, Beorn and his people recruitable in Carrock with Dwarves, or maybe even as creeps for evil factions... These would be just examples of what could be done in some maps, to help making new strategies for different maps... What do you think? I hope you like this suggestion!

This is not the place for bug reports you know. Please refer to the respective board (http://en.modding-union.com/index.php/board,381.0.html).

Hello !

I think the maps pack "sauron maps" of the dark lord is a very good map pack. That would be cool if we integrated in the game with his permision.

I've got one small, but important request, that should be implemented.

Every "vanilla" Edain map should have description that includes kind of base, that player gets (camp/castle).
I think that it will save time of many players seeking right map for skimrish. ;)

We agree. Unfortunately, this didn't make it into version 4.3, but we'll try to get it into one of the next versions.

Great!
And one more thing to think about, to whoever is moderator in ECC. If someone will want to share custom maps in there, it will must have such description.

Sorry if it ain't right place for this, but i honestly don't know where it could be written. ;)

Would it be possible to get the Helm's Klamm Horror Map into 4.0? It was really fun to play with.

Could we have a a map like the "Mission : Conquer and hold" one but bigger and with castles ? :)

Beitrag von: Gnomi am 17. Apr 2016, 10:59
You can have such a mission on every map now. :) There are two similar game modes: One which needs settlements to win the game and one with outposts.

Ok I'll try it, even if I like it better with the beacons  xD

Hello- I just wanted to bring up a general request for the team regarding competitive play 3v3 and 4v4 maps: we desperately need more of them that are balanced from the start.

If we are 3v3, we almost always are stuck with playing either Rhun or Nurn, and if we play 4v4 we only really play the same 2-3 maps as well. There are many other beautiful maps to choose from, but the problem is so many have strange or random start points with some being completely out of the way or isolated from the others.

Also, maps like Nanduruhan (sp?) the 4v4 map, we rarely play because it is so campy. We prefer maps like Nurn and Tornament Hills which are more balanced from the start and more fostering of open-play and less camp.

Thank you =]

@calixoxx
One new 4v4 and one new 3v3 will be introduced in 4.5
Also if you have suggestions on restructuring maps in terms of settlements creep position and basic layout, you can always make specific suggestions and open a thread.
It worked amazingly well in the German thread, which resulted in a very balanced map that is very popular among the beat/balance testers. :)
I would very much appreciate that.

@Palpou
That sounds indeed interesting. ;)

Hi!

So, Age Of The Ring was just released, and I can't help but be amazed at the quantity of maps the mod (and 2.02 patch, I think) has. So I thought, as you have a good relationship with the AOTR team, it would be great if you could ask for permission to use some of those maps in Edain, if you want, of course. Edain's mod-original maps are awesome too, but those maps are great and I think they can be easily made compatible with Edain and the BFME-1 system.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, and I hope I didn't came out as rude or anything!

In one sense I agree...
For me the maps like Amon Hen of NJM are very cool and I would like to use them in Edain Mod, but I must also say than edain have his own style of maps and this create a sort of charm to edain mod.

Maybe mappers of Edain Team can draw inspiration from AotR maps and then do them in their own way.
In one word I like see different work in different mods as if I very like the new maps presented by AotR.

I think that i can speak for the team, when i say that the topic "Maps" is an ongoing process.
In 4.5 there will be some new Maps - which already have been announced - and here and there a map overhaul.
Titel: Re: Brief Map Ideas
Beitrag von: Julio229 am 1. Aug 2017, 15:27

I actually agree on that, as Edain's original maps (Khâzad-Dum, Aldburg...) are great, maybe there's no need to include maps from other mods. It was a passing thought I had as I was playing precisely on what I think was one of your maps (the Minas Morgul one :P)

That's great to hear! I forgot about the announced maps, I'm stupid :P and it is great to know that other maps will receive an overhaul, it is always great to find different ways to play on different maps.

Thank you both for your input!

The problem with my maps is than they are little buggy (they are still in beta version) and the maps must be perfect to deserve to be integrated to Edain, and also Minas Morgul and my other maps need to integrate some models to the game folder and I think than Edain temps prefers avoid to add models to big because this make the game slow-down. :)

Beitrag von: Julio229 am 1. Aug 2017, 17:02

Even if they are still in beta, they are really awesome (I have every map you've released for Edain)! I think the same about adding models, and I guess Age Of The Ring can add them because they add less things (I guess, I haven't played a lot after trying all the factions and many of the maps :P I liked it, but the mod is too vanilla-like for me, amazing models and textures aside). But anyways, as you have a Edain submod, your maps will be able to be used in Edain too, so I'm fine anyways. Can't wait to play with those maps, what you've released so far is awesome!

When I'm thinking about it ... I found that Lothlorien and upcoming Misty Mountains are only two factions completely without fortress maps. Even Imladris has at least Rivendell map.

So Caras Galadhon or Mirkwood fortress maps for Lothlorien ... And Goblin Town or Gundabad for Misty Mountains ... would be wonderful Edain maps not only for skirmish, but for the Siege horde maps as well. :)

Hello!

I have some fortress-map ideas:

Caras Galadhon, Thranduils Castle
Gundabad Stronghold, Goblin Town
Annuminas
Umbar City, Barad Dur

Hope you like the idea! Have a nice day!

Welcome to the forum.

Your concept isn't much of a concept and rather throwing names into the room.
If you want to suggest something, please elaborate those ideas further.

Hello, companions of Edain,

I was playing on the Cair Andros map recently, and recalled that there was actually a camp in the middle in BFME I. I was wonderig if people would appreciate maps with a camp or a castle to be fought for, or if there is a technical reason for their absence.

In particular, I am curious how would 1v1v1 camp map work if there would be a castle spot in the middle. Though the 5K castle price might be too much to be invested without some treasure to pay for it.  :P

In the Minas Tirith map, there are two large walkable mountain paths on either side of the city (connecting to the second level if I'm not mistaken); one bears a vanilla beacon, while the other is empty. I'm not sure if the space is big enough, but I'd like to see that empty spot filled with a Settlement.

For what reason? Well, nearly every fortress map has at least one Settlement of Outpost building within its walls; this provides a great benefit for most Factions, but is esspecially pertinent to Angmar, who needs Settlement buildings to level up buildings. It would also be really cool if you could naturally summon Beacon troops as Gondor.

So, in conclusion, if space allows and if the community and team see this as a good idea, it would be nice to see a Settlement within Minas Tirith's walls.

The upper one is and will remain empty, as support troups from a spell (like haradrim) spawn there and need that room^^
Titel: Re: Brief Map Ideas
Beitrag von: Watcher am 6. Okt 2021, 11:38
Ah, I see. Perhaps the beacon on the other side can be moved higher, then?

I have to take a closer look on that area. Most likely it is way too small for the bigger settlement buildings, which would cause some weird glitches (and if I make it too big, it will probably look weird in the mountain.

Also I just asked myself, where you got that information from:

Zitat
nearly every fortress map has at least one Settlement of Outpost building within its walls

As far as I remember, most of the fortresses neither have a settlement, nor an outpost:
Aldburg
Lonely mountain
Edoras
Caras Galadhon
Cair Andros
Cirith Ungol
Dol Guldur
Isengard (both versions)
Dol Amroth
Fornost
Minas Morgul
Minas Tirith

Only Amon Sul has settlements and Helm's deep&Fornost has an outpost inside the castle.
So I would like to disagree with your statement here :P

But your point with Angmar is correct. All fortresses could get the same treatment as Horde maps, as Angmar really needs to level up its buildings. That's something we overlooked in the past.
Also we could give the campfire a similar treatment as the buildings in Isengard(cursed) - if you are Gondor, you get control over it and you can get troups that way.

I see... thank you for correcting me. I did remember some of those having settlements in them, but I suppose I was wrong...

Well, thank you for taking my idea into consideration :)
