Greetings, companions of Edain!
When developing a new version, we make small improvements to the mod all the time - a new hero ability there, a new model there, even for old factions like Mordor that are not the focus of the version. Stuff like that usually isn't enough to fill a large news post like our recent update on the Ered Mithrin Dwarves, but we'd still like to share it with you. This is what this thread is for: From time to time, we'll just post some tidbits here to show you what we're up to :)
For the first impression we chose a topic that many players have sent us feedback about: Mordor's ultimate spell Grond. While we feel Grond is incredibly atmospheric and a fantastic ultimate weapon for Mordor, it was also clunky and difficult to use. That is why we have made a number of improvements to the old ram:
- Grond can now move through destroyed gates to wreak havoc inside the fortress as well.
- Alternatively, Grond can now attack walls as well so no castle is safe from any angle.
- Grond is now manned by Orc archers with flaming arrows. These provide some measure of defense against enemy units and can attack structures as well. And they just look cool xD

Greetings, companions of Edain!
As suggested by our community, we included Nori as a new scout hero for the dwarven realm Erebor. He will be replacing the old Bilbo, who didnt fit into this realm.

We dont want to reveal to much about his whole concept. Finally, you must also have something to discover in the new version.

Greetings, companions of Edain!
Today we have something special for you. We agree with our community that the young Bilbo does not fit into the realm of the Iron Hills. In addition, many users wished that the Ram riders from BotfA should be more and permament available.
So we were thinking about a new concept:
Just like the dwarven realm Erebor, the Iron Hills gets a new scout unit. The Iron Hills are now able to recruit three single ram rider. Each of these individual ram rider will cost few ressources, has high visibility and is very fast, so a perfect way to scout. When Lord Dain enters the battlefield, the scouts can call and lead for some ressources a whole troop of ram riders. In addition, the troups can research forged blades and heavy armour. Nevertheless, these troops are limited to a maximum of three. So later in the game, when scouting is no longer important, the scouts can be fully upgraded to strong fighters - thus they undergo development.

We believe that it is an interesting and unique system, according to the wishes of our fans.

Greetings, companions of Edain!
You could already get an overview about Mirkwood in the current gameplay video of RuudDevil. By criticism and feedback of our fans, we have again subjected the buildings to a fine-tuning.
Previously our intention were to get the "cave feeling" from Desolation of Smaug. But we found that it does not work in the game, which is the reason why we have given the buildings a tree canopy. If you are honest: it looks fantastic!
In addition we gave the mirkwood outpost some option to defend itself. The player will be able to research some defending upgrades in the
vault of the king.

Currently, Edain is the only mod that converts the full architecture of Mirkwood from the Hobbit movies in to the game. Of course it is not possible, that it looks just like in the movie, but we have done our best with very subtle details.

Greetings, companions of Edain!
A poll has shown that our community wants Tauriel summonable. Nevertheless, there are many fans who would like to use Tauriel permanent. Now we have developed a special for the map Mirkwood, Tauriel's homeland. On this map she will be recruitable with a full set of abilities and the spellbook spell summons three personal troops instead of two.

(http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/11/10679/Thorin3_ConceptPromo.jpg) (http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/11/10679/Thorin3_ConceptPromo.jpg)
This picture collage shows a future design that we chose for our hero Thorin III. Stonehelm. We felt the freedom to create an interesting looking character design for him, yet orient it at the movies visual style.
Thorin III. is a hot tempered, young dwarf. Much a brawler like his father Dain, he never turns down a fight and always seeks a new challenger. His heritage and skill earned him the rank of Captain, though he prefers to fight on his own. In times of peace Thorin III. patrols the Iron Hills with a small group of guards, fighting off beasts and eastern raiders.
The Concept Art shows a FUTURE design, that most likely will NOT YET be implemented in the next Edain Patch. But it is planned to adapt it as a 3D model and integrate it into Edain someday.

Greetings, companions of Edain!
Today we want to present you a visual rework of the Chanteuse.
In addition their system has been changed, whereby they are able to cast only one ability whose effects are reinforced with every addition Chant. Earlier, the three songs have superimposed which has acted strangely and was too complex for the player. Now the song feels like a cannon, what the players in the game does not bother anymore. The more Chanteuse sing, the more visual effects appear to nearby units.
Chant: The Chanteuse begins singing in a beautiful voice for 30 seconds, encouraging nearby allied troops. All other Chanteuses nearby will also begin singing.
If 1 Minstrel is singing, allies gain +15% armor and damage.
If 2 are singing, allies also fear resistance.
If 3 are singing, allies also gain restistance to knock back and trample
The Chant can now be carried out even during the movement, which improves the system and facilitates control.

Greetings, companions of Edain!
Today, we present you something that won't just fix Lórien's problems in the „War of the Ring“, but was also greatly desired by the community: An alternative for Lórien's outposts!
From now on, the Elves of the Golden Forest have the opportunity to build a citadel of Lothlórien which recruits heroes and units and can also be improved with upgrades. In the beginning, the player has a big tree house that can be improved with the following upgrades:
- Borderguard-Wing: Allows recruiting of Borderguards and increases command points by 300.
- Galadhrim-Wing: Allows recruiting of Galadhrim, increases recruitment speed by 50% and seizes the citadel with archers.
- Forge-Wing: Allows recruiting of Caras Galadhon Guardians and improves the outpost with Silverthorn arrows.
- Sanctuary-Wing: Allows recruiting of Chanteuses and covers the outpost with a disguising fog.
In addition to this effects, new complexes are added to the tree house that represent the respective upgrade visually. You can see the fully upgraded citadel here...

Greetings, companions of Edain!
Our community wished that some mounted heroes can carry hobbit heroes like Frodo, Sam, Merry or Pippin.
We have therefore accepted this request and incorporated a similar system:
(http://modding-union.com/edainimg/piggyback_1446455371.jpg) (http://modding-union.com/edainimg/piggyback_1446455371.jpg)
Currently following heroes are available to carry a hobbit hero:
- Eomer
- Eowyn
- Hama
- Theodred
- Faramir
- Aragorn
- Treebeard
- Quickbeam
- Thranduil
For Gandalf and Theoden there are some technical problems because of their ring system, so they wont get this option.
Remember that it is only a presentation screenshot. Pippin, Sam, Frodo and Treebeard arent available for the faction Rohan.

Greetings, companions of Edain!
Today we want to present you a rework of the hero Grimbeorn, who's available in the faction Lothlorien. His design is oriented by Ted Nasmith's wonderful artwork (http://tednasmith.poverellomedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/TN-Beorn_Lord_of_the_Wild.jpg) for Beorn. The differences are in the used color shemes.

Greetings, companions of Edain!
After all those Dwarves, it's time to look again towards Angmar! We have polished up their heroic unit, the Black Guard, with a new design:
(http://modding-union.com/edainimg/blackguard_1450953333.jpg) (http://modding-union.com/edainimg/blackguard_1450953333.jpg)
Their armor and textures are of a higher quality in general and their breastplate continues the skull motif used by the helmet. Their shield is now in the shape of a stylized Iron Crown with a two spiked curving outwards and one large spike in the center.
We hope you enjoyed this small update,

Angmar receives new siege mechanics in Edain 4.5. From the forge, you can recruit troll siege crews. They can build your siege weapons directly on the battlefield. This allows for the same flexibility as the trallmasters. Additionally, this new system makes siege towers possible for Angmar. They couldn't be built inside the fortress because then they'd be too large to get out of the gate. However, the trolls can construct them in the open field without problems.

The Dwarven stoneworker can now unlock oil vents for their fortress. This allows the gate walls to pour down boiling oil on attackers:

Gondor has now besides the catapults and rams another siege weapon: The Siege Shield.
(http://modding-union.com/edainimg/siegeshield_1472633687.jpg) (http://modding-union.com/edainimg/siegeshield_1472633687.jpg)
The Siege Shield is an economical siege unit which provides passive immunity against arrow and spear damage.
This makes it possible to get close to the enemy fortress, without being stopped by arrow fire.
The following video shows this new siege weapon in detail:

In the next Edain patch 4.5 the defense buildplots have been improved. Every faction has now the possibility besides the battletower to build a second special building on these plots.
Rohan, Gondor, Rivendell and the Dwarves can build a heroic statue (camp maps). Mordor can build a Banner, which improves the recruitment speed of recruiting buildings in the near. Isengart has the possibility to build a warg sentry, which isn't any longer available at the big buildplots. And Angmar can build some Obelisk, which reduces the armor and damage of nearby enemy troops.
With these changes we hope to incorporate a little more diversity in the siege system.

The dwarves can build now Mineworkers, representing a new and unique siege unit:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5F2B-vKz9NQ&feature=youtu.be
The Mineworkers can dig a tunnel entrance in the near of an enemy building, in which they undermine targeted enemy buildings and walls. The radius to an enemy building is indicated by a radial selection graphic and a light at the helm of the dwarf.
If the tunnel gets destroyed or even torn, the Mineworker leaving the underground caves and can be used again, but only after the ability has been recharged.
-
After some critism by our fans, we decided to rework some of the shown new defense buildings.
Angmar doesn't build anymore the Obelisks, now there are the Cages available, which are already known as a wall upgrade.
Mordor's Defense Banner has been changed too: Now it does fit more the common style of Mordor's buildings.
Isengard's Warg Sentry got some rework, we changed the bone thing. Now it should fit more the wooden style of Isengard.

Rohan will get now new opportunities to besiege the enemy. In addition to the Onager and the battering ram, Rohan now gets access to Petardiere and Hay Carts:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yB9LjdVqFkI
Petardiere are siege units which throwing burning pitch bags on enemy buildings and cause high damage.
Hay Cart can be dropped off at enemy buildings and gates and ignited. The inflammation works automatically by the auto attack of the cart.
After a while the inflamed Hay Cart burns down and disappears. The enemy, however, can counter the burning Cart by destroying it.
Both siege units support Rohan's aggressive play in the early game.

Today we have something special for you: The Huorn. For a long time because of technical reasons rejected, we have now found the possibility to include them in some way:

The goblins of Moria under the leadership of the chieftain will be more clearly distinguishable from the wild goblins from the lairs in the future. Moria goblins recruited in fortresses and camps will wear a black armor, which will give them an advantage when creeping around in the darkness of Khazad-dûm. As the chieftain's troops, these goblins are more disciplined and take care to keep their armor free from rust.
The wild goblins continue to wear the rusty armor and are available in the lairs on farm plots and the taken over creep lairs. In the latter, you will have access to pikemen in addition to swordsmen and archers.

The armies of the Misty Mountains are diverse, so it needed different banners to express that.
In the future, Goblin-town will carry the ram skull as its symbol, Gundabad the typical shape of the helmet ornament and the fortress towers, while Moria will keep the balrog head and the wild goblins the red grimace.
To show that Bolg unites the Misty Mountains under one banner, his banner bears elements of all four others.
