You can sign up from now to the 12th 10. 2014 at 20:00. The composition of the groups will be released a few days from that point to make it easier for you to prepare.
By signing up, you accept the general tournament rules. These contain further important information so make sure to take a look.
Rules:
§1 General
Edain Masters is a tournament based on the game “The Battle for Middle-Earth 2” including the expansion “Rise of the Witch King” and additionally the modification “Edain Mod 2”.
Using a valid specimen of these as well as version 3.8.1 of Edain Mod 2 are essential in order to participate in the tournament.
All players should treat each other and the organizers with respect and fairplay, and breaking this rule can lead to an immediate disqualification.
Only the organizers are allowed to adapt the rules and can do so whenever they think it is necessary, even in an already running game.
§2 Participation
You can participate by registering at the forum and a second registry in this thread. In special cases, you can also ask the organizers to let you participate directly, without being registered in the forum.
A valid account at Tunngle is required in order to participate.
The networks
“Der Herr der Ringe: Die Schlacht um Mittelerde 2 – Edain Mod”
“Der Herr der Ringe: Die Schlacht um Mittelerde 2 – Edain Mod [2]“
“The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth 2 – Edain Mod“
are places where you can meet us, ask your questions and may find new relevant information. The games should take place in other networks that are less visited, but except from this criteria you are free to select.
The number of participants is limited to 32, unless we experience a much higher amount of registry.
§3 Structure of the Tournament
§3.1 Group Stage
The participants will be randomly assigned into 8 groups that will contain 4 players or less.
They will then be allocated into matches by giving them numbers. Number 1 will be paired with number 2 and number 3 with number 4. Afterwards, both the winners (“Winnermatch”) and the losers (“Losermatch”) of these games will be paired with each other. The victor of the Winnermatch will earn rank 1 in this group and the loser of the Losermatch rank 4. The two ranks between will be acquired in a “Decidermatch” between the player who lost the Winnermatch and the player who won the Losermatch.
Once all the groups have undergone this procedure, rank 1 and 2 from every group will enter the next stage, while the lower ranks are out.
§3.2 Playoffs
For the later stages, the participants will be randomly put into a double elimination bracket that will regulate any other match by matching the victors of the previous stage until the tournament is over.
§4 Spectators
Only the casters and referees nominated by the organizers may spectate the game directly, apart from the organizers themselves.
By participating, you accept that your games might be casted on an official website.
§5 Hosting
If there is none of the mentioned possible spectators, the players are allowed to host their game.
In case the game has a spectator, he or she is supposed to be the host unless this would cause technical problems.
§6 Cheating
Using any sort of cheats, maphacks, bugs, eastereggs, tools or watching the opponent’s movement with a stream is forbidden and breaking this rule will cause certain disqualification. Included are some rules about unbalanced ingame features that will be listed and released at a later point.
§7 Mappool
The pool of allowed maps contains none but the following:
EM14 Arnor: Forochel
EM14 Furten des Isen II
EM14 Ostbucht
EM14 Ostithilien
EM14 Rohan
In the group stage, every match will be played as “best of one”. Here, both players can each veto two maps before their game starts. They have to decide who will veto first. Then this player vetoes one map. Next, the other player vetoes two maps at a time and afterwards the first player uses his or her last veto. The unvetoed map is then played.
All the later stages will be played als „best of three“ and both players only have one veto each. It is randomly selected who starts. After using their veto, the players will discuss a certain order in which the three unvetoed maps will then be played. (If the first and the second game are won by the same player, the last one is skipped, however.)
§8 Fractions
In the beginning of every match, both players have to tell an organizer about two ingame fractions that shall be banned until their match is over. They have to do this secretly. This way, two up to four fractions will be not available. Once the organizer tells both players which fractions are banned and which are still open, both choose their pick. This, too, must be done without communication between the two players.
In case of a “best of three” the banned fractions will stay the same in all games of that match. However, the players will have to pick again with each game.
§9 Replays
It is crucial to save a replay and upload it in the forum after every game. Additionally, the outcome of the game has to be recorded in the same post. For this purpose, a special thread will be opened soon.
§10 Disconnects and Cases of Asynchrony
Whenever a game is quit by a technical problem without having lasted 20 minutes or longer and it was unclear who would have won (decided by a referee if one is present), it has to be repeated.
If the game lasted already 20 minutes or more, it is up to the players to decide who would have won it. That player is then considered the winner.
In case the players can’t agree and there no referee spectated, the replay has to be shown to one (nominated by the organizers) who can decide. His decision has to be accepted by the players.
11§ Distribution of the Rewards
The best 4 participants will receive the newest Beta version of Edain 4.0.
Furthermore, a price pool will be established that anyone involved into the Edain Masters tournament can support voluntarily. The players wo made it into the final match will earn that price pool: 2/3 for the victor, 1/3 for the loser.
Besides, there will be a few rules about ingame features that are unbalanced. We think there will be around 4 of those.
Do you have any questions? Then you can contact the organizers anytime.
We wish you tons of fun and we hope there will be plenty people to participate!
Sincerely
The “Edain Masters” Team
