I have potential solution (in hope that you don't have to install everything again): Install this (LastElb's universal mod starter). Then open the program and click on the second picture with the magnifier and the tick. Click on "Assetchecker starten" and then on "Assetbibliothek säubern".
Then try the game again.

Mostly buttons or objects are pink because of the "asset.dat" which has to be changed for mods...
Maybe it will work if you start the edain mod from the "edainmodstarter.exe" this helped me once I had a similar Problem....

You have to use the Infantery-Button of the farms and recruit a "Herold" in a Kaserne or Schießstand, he can call the infantery after you unlocked it in a farm, just like a Zuchtmeister of Angmar.

Give the Ring to the Hero, for Smaug you have to give the RIng to the Schatzlager (i think it was the name of the building) where you can also buy upgrades.

For Durin you have to give the Ring to Durins Mausoleum

You get the Ring by killing Gollum - he runs around the map, but is invisible, just like in the unmoddet game.

Tu build Durin, you have to put the Ring into the Mausoleum, which can be build by your Builders.
