So as i play Mordor, im feeling that the fortresses are somewhat not that big a part of the faction. Or that they feel a little random, especially Dol Guldur.
A change that i think could work for this, is that in the beginning of the game you chose on which fortress you want to build and focus on. It may sound like a subfaction, but its not, its more of a specialisation.
Through these changes i think Mordor will become more fun to play and also more tidy. At the moment you only have need for either fortress. And with these changes the fortresses become much more important for you.
The idea is that Morgul is more aggressive of the two, you have better defence on your structures and can hold the line, and Guldur is more defensive, you build up armies unnoticed to then strike your enemy. (more or less)
Minas MorgulSo if you chose Minas Morgul at the start, you get the following:
-You start the game with 2 Morgul units and not the regular orcs
-Gothmog is recruited from Morgul and not the fortress
-Khamul you can get at the citadel but at a much higher cost
-When sauron uses his influence on either fortress they get different bonuses
Morgul: gets much higher defence
Dol Guldur-You start the game with 2 Dol Guldur units
-Instead of Gothmog you can recruit The Defiler from DG (where he belongs)
-The witch king you can get at the citadel at a much higher cost
-When sauron uses his influence on either fortress they get different bonuses
Guldur: enemies can have no vision of the fortress and the close by area
The Defiler, has his movie armor, and has similar support and leadership as Gothmog but they will be more hobbit themed.
Changes that apply for both-Formation for the special orcs is gained when either Khamul or The Witch King is recruited from their fortress, the overseers no longer work on the orcs from the fortress.
-The orcs from both fortresses are buffed, they no longer work with overseers so they need a little buff.
-My troll idea from my earlier topic is applied.
The spellbookThe spellbook becomes more focused on the two fortresses with one side, Dol Guldur and the other Minas Morgul.
Focusing on either faction, you can still get support from the other through the spellbook.
The left side focuses more on Guldur and the right on Morgul
Changes:
-barricade gets a ruined look and DG archers
-shelob and arrow wolley switch place, arrow wolley is replaced with dark winds which knocks down enemies and damages them in a small area
-Saurons true form is replaced by were worms, which summons two were worms who destroy all around them and leave holes in the ground from where Guldur units arrive (you now get saurons true form when all his objectives are completed)
-Grond is summoned from the side of the map with someMorgul units
