Black Boxing and distortion when spells/special effects used

Hello.  Love your work.
So, when I use spells, usually, I will get nearly a complete screen black out.  Sometimes it's just in the corner of the screen, sometimes it's the whole thing.  Is there a setting I can change to prevent this. 
(my system can handle it, processor, graphics card, ram, all good)

Really, that's it?  Just reinstall? Are you familiar with this problem?  I ask because I have had this problem off and on since first playing, idk, however many years ago, and just through circumstance I've had to re-install because of new hardware, or system restore, etc.  and it just keeps becoming a problem.  I'll definitely try it but if there's anything else, please help.  It just wrecks the game.

If you have a NVIDIA graphic Card make sure that you deaktivated the Antialiasing in the Control Panel.
