Yes, that's exactly it. 
I turned the antiliasing off, haven't come across the problem again yet, but haven't played enough to say if it worked or not.

I'd like to know what was said on the page where your link to that screen shot was, but I can't get my PC to translate any or enough of it to make any sense to me.  So if you have any info. to give on the subject, I definitely want to know.

OKAY, I tried reinstalling, even different version, but I'm still having this blotchy black distortion during special effects, it just wrecks the game.  There's no way other people don't have this problem.  I play this game, different versions on two different PC'c, and they do the same thing.

Hm, try to reinstall the graphic card driver...
