Feedback: Horde maps
FG15:
--- Zitat von: Le Sournois am 22. Dez 2025, 17:37 ---The last wave is particularly difficult.
Also, I realized maybe as a single player I chose the wrong location, the left placement which I think is harder than the right one. But as I began with the left location I wanted to complete it that way because I was used to that beginning. Wrong choice i guess.
I will try now the right location to see if it is better. I think it will be, it seems better protected. In the description, maybe there could be a small advice to chose the right location for singleplayer even though I chose so quickly without thinking the matter enough, that kind of advice would save time.
Pressure in the middle is perfect. I just feel the last wave with the dragon is astonishingly strong and make me feel more of the Minas Nurn mission with more and more insanity as the game progress than the previous horde maps.
it's not so much the dragon, that I was never able to fight properly than all the other filth that comes with it, all the drakes, all the beast, in an incredible number.
But rather than nerfing it, would it be possible in normal mode to give an additional wave of reinforcment that would not appear in the hard mode just before the last wave with very good units so that the last wave would be a challenge only in hard version ?
--- Ende Zitat ---
I always start left as well though I never beat the horde map myself, or any of the other horde maps. Becsuse, if I could, it would likely be far too easy.
So I have to mainly rely on other peoples feedback.
And it being my first horde map, it for sure is a bit different compared to the other horde maps.
Adding a reinforcement to the end wouldn't be a bad idea in normal mode.
Though would make it strictly the same as the reinforcement before, such that players don't miss anything cool in hard mode.

I feel like in some horde map like this one the difference is not that relevant between the two modes.

So far I mainly used timings and money as the levers to differentiate the modes.
This shouldn't have a big immediate impact, but should accumulate over time.
I believe some of the other horde maps also used additional enemy waves, I'm open to use that more as well and other suggestions are welcome, too.
Le Sournois:
Hi FG15,
Consider trying the right side. I finally beat the map (with some cheats for the moment but nonetheless I'm happy) and the right is far easier to defend.
I think there were 2 maps were additional waves were designed in hard mode, those with camp starts, Stonewain Valley and Black Gate, the other don't change waves. Minas Tirith in hard mode has a more early depart of the rule to hold the wall for Gondor and Lothlorien with additional waves coming as soon as the wall is lost, so that's quite an interesting change.
Otherwise, it's simply less ressources and less command points.
The powerpoints collection is also affected, but I think that this is not always that significant. Some spells require a particular timing to be cast, so if we got a spell faster than in hard mode, we sometimes tend to use it too early, for a spell better used in endgame.
Maybe a difference if it is possible between normal and hard mode would include not only powerpoints collection but also faster recharge time of spellbook powers in normal version.
