Faction Specific Categories

This is a simple idea, we already have general categories for unit and heroes but I think it could be very useful if we had category pages that referred to a unit type from a certain faction. For example:
-Rohan Cavalry
-Gondor Swordsmen
-Mordor Units
-Imladris Single

This will help us when referencing discounts especially. At the moment clicking on the unit type link in the discount tab brings the use to the general tab which can be confusing for newcomers but having faction specific tags will help us more clearly show what units exactly are affected. The format for a faction specific unit tag should be: [Faction] [Type]. And these should in general apply to every category so for example the Mordor Orc Warriors would gain the following categories:
Mordor Swordsmen
Mordor Unit

And as another example, Royal Guards:
Rohan Cavalry (already has it, we'll have to standardize the use everywhere)
Rohan Heroic
Rohan Unit

That's basically it, this will mean we have to relink a lot of the faction pages. In addition, we'll also have to relink the pages which link to the general categories but who's context is faction specific categories.

Great idea, Necro! I believe it will make the information for specific things easier to access, for example, if a beginner just wants to check out what options of cavalry he has in Rohan, or for the discounts, like you've said.

This sounds like a pretty good idea. One possible problem that could happen is having too many categories on one page so it is just difficult to see all of them clearly. I guess we just need to make sure it doesn't get out of control. Also, would each dwarven sub-faction have their own list of categories (e.g. Ered Luin Swordsman, Erebor Swordsman, Iron Hills Swordsman) ?

This seems to be an interesting reordering project. I'm always for lists and catalogues, if the main aim is to make things clearer

I think it would be best if each dwarven subfaction had their own tags.

Since everybody seems okay with the idea, I'll list all the tags that I think we should use and everybody is more than welcome to add any they think would also be appropriate, so for every faction:
Heroes:
[Faction] Hero
[Faction] Summonable Hero

Units:
[Faction] Unit
[Faction] Summonable Unit
[Faction] [Unit Type] (Swordsmen, Pikemen, Cavalry, Archers, ect...]
[Faction] [Unit Level] (Heroic, Elite)

Finally, I'd like to mention that summonable unit/heroes should still inherit from regular unit and hero categories. The summonable categories do not replace the regular categories, it merely adds on.

Sorry I'm late on this.  Sounds like a good idea.  My concern would also be for the clutter of categories.  Just to be clear, take the Mumakil page for instance:

    Mordor
    Unit
    Single
    Elite
    Cavalry
    Harad
    Summonable Unit
    Monster

we would add to these the following?

Mordor Unit
Mordor Single
Mordor Elite
Mordor Cavalry
Mordor Summonable Unit
Mordor Monster

That's a lot of categories...or maybe I understood wrong and what you are saying is to replace the non-faction category with the faction category.  That would make more sense.

Uhm... that is a good point. At the moment, I do intend that we add the faction specific categories in addition to the ones already present. I just don't see the faction specific categories replacing the general ones since that would mean you would no longer be able to reference all unit or all summonable units. This might be something we'll have to deal with. In my opinion, the benefits outweigh this disadvantage.

Necro, I agree with your proposal.  I don't see any way around the disadvantage, but it is a nice feature to have.

That's a good idea. Every general category should have each of the faction specific categories so Unit would have Mordor Unit, Rohan Unit, ect...

And I also think that each faction category page should have each of the faction specific category. So Mordor would have Mordor Unit, Mordor Hero, Mordor Cavalry, ect...
