Eine genaue Übersetzung für Nahkämpfer gibt es im Englischen meines Wissens nach gar nicht. "Close Combat" wäre hier schon in Ordnung.

"Yield tax" - Ein englisches wort gibt es nicht direkt dafür, aber du kannst ruhig Ausbeute und Steuer einfach einzeln übersetzen. Normalerweise sollte jeder wissen was damit gemeint ist.

Hm, ist das Zurückstoßen im Englischen nicht eher als "to knock back/down" zu übersetzen?
"throw out of his way/thrown back" klingt in meinen Ohren irgendwie holprig, hast du häufiger und in verschiedenen Ausführungen geschrieben.
Das solltest du vllt a) nochmal überdenken und b) angleichen^^

Denkt ihr es ist ok, die Imrahil Prinzengarte als "Atheling Guard" zu bezeichnen?

Ich mache mich mal an den Text 8. (und editier ihn dann rein)

Vorschlag: Eine Liste an übersetzten Einheitennamen, damit alles schön einheitlich ist, und nicht bei z.B. Nebelbergen mal von "Orc-Warriors" mal von "Orc Warriors" und dann mal von "Goblin Warriors" die Rede ist.

EA Games hat bei diesen Togglefähigkeiten meist  "Left click to toggle between bow and sword" geschrieben.
Wenn es nur in eine Richtung ging hieß es "Left click to switch to melee mode"

Allgemein wurde Nahkampf fast immer mit "melee" im englischen bezeichnet. Wäre klasse, wenn man das so weiterbenutzen könnte um eine gewisse Einheit zu bewahren. ("melee attack" bei Nahkampfangriffen/Fähigkeiten, "change to melee" beim Wechsel, "melee vulnerability", usw... so wurd es immer benutzt und klang auch immer ziemlich gut.^^)

Bei Belagerungsmaschinen wurde immer Siege weapon oder Siege machine verwendet.

Bei der Steuer... seh ich genauso wie Radagast. Yield tax würde ich jedoch nicht verwenden, weil es den Ausdruck tax yield für Steuerertrag gibt und yield of tax, was Steueraufkommen heißt.
Ich persönlich würde wahrscheinlich das Ganze etwas freier als "Cruel taxes" bezeichnen.


@ Dralo:
Lehen müsste im HdR immer fiefdom heißen.
Das heißt irgendwas in die Richtung: "Soldiers of the fiefdoms".
Das Zweite sollte passen.

Es ist bestimmt praktisch, wenn die Übersetzer SuM auch mal auf englisch gespielt haben. Eben für diese Standard-Worte.

Bei sowas wie Dornengestrüpp kann man ruhig auch etwas freier übersetzen. Das muss nicht wortwörtlich stimmen, da die Worter so im englischen nicht verwendet werden. Hier wäre zB "thornbush" der geläufigste Begriff.

Unit must be mounted to use ability würde ich sagen wobei der Einheitenname eingesetzt werden kann. Ich bin mir gerade nichtmal sicher ob es im Originalspiel die mechanik gab das einzelne Fähigkeiten nur beritten verfügbar waren, bzw dies im Text stand.

Habe zwei Fragen: Sollen die Namen historischer Persönlichkeiten und Orte übersetzt werden oder bleiben die so?
Haben Fähigkeiten eigentlich einheitliche Namen? Wenn ja, wäre es gut, die im Ankündigungspost zu vermerken, sonst gibt das ein chaos. Habe jetzt z.B. "Falkenschuss" als "Hawk-Shot" übersetzt.

Kommt drauf an wie sie im englischen heissen, als Orte wie Auenland werden übersetzt. Namen die in elbisch sind werden jedoch nicht übersetzt (zb Imladris).

Wenn du mit Hochkönig Gil-Galad meinst, ist High King richtig.
White lady sollte stimmen, allerdings müsste man wissen, welche weiße Herrin genau meint ist. Galadriel oder Eowny?
Warg ist im deutschen und im englischen gleich.

Weiße Herrin auf Englisch wäre White Mistress und Flächenschaden wäre Surface Damage.
Sry für die Spitze, aber wer klugscheißen will, sollte es bitte richtig tun :P
Weiße Herrin ist White Lady (so heißt Galadriel auch in der Originalausgabe) und "Surface Damage" ist ein Musterbeispiel dafür, warum einem jeder Englischlehrer empfiehlt, kein Deutsch-Englisch-Wörterbuch zu benutzen... die Übersetzung ist nämlich Unsinn, weil du "Oberfläche" (=surface) statt "Gebiet" (=area) übersetzt hast. Beides kann auf Deutsch auch als "Fläche" bezeichnet werden, hat aber völlig verschiedene Bedeutungen.

Wir werden keine Abkürzungen für irgendwelche Begriffe verwenden. Wenn wir übersetzen, dann auch richtig. In diesem Fall wäre Area Damage der richtige Ausdruck.

Im original Spiel ist amerkanisches Englisch verwendet worden, z.B. Armor statt Armour. Habt ihr dort Präferenzen?

Ich hab text 12 zum größten Teil fertig, bräuchte allerdings bei Salemes Fallen noch etwas Hilfestellung [uglybunti]

Blendfalle habe ich einfach mal mit blindingtrap übersetz,
Sprengfalle mit blastingtrap und Giftfalle mit poisontrap

Wäre das so in Ordnung oder gibt es vllt noch eine andere Möglichkeit, die etwas schöner klingt.

Und fällt jemandem eine ordentliche Übersetzung für Hexerkrieger ein?
Warlockwarrior ist meiner Meinung nach nicht unbedingt geeignet.

Gut gut bin durch, allerdings gibts onch paar ausdrücke zu klären, da manchmal auf fähigkeiten oder einheiten bezug genommen wird die nicht in meinem abschnitt zu übersetzten sind

Erkenbrand sollte einfach Erkenbrand auf englisch heißen (sowas lässt isch acuh immer leicht über Tolkiengateway herausfinden, bzw. bei ardapedia den Namen eingeben und dann auf englisch wechseln)

"Nahkampf-Truppen der Herolde" in einem der skills ist immer noch deutsch in der übersetzung da das von jemand anderem übersetzt wurde
Selbes gilt für "Grimas Einflüsterungen", ebenfalls noch einmal nicht übersetzt (damit es zu der vorhergehenden übersetzung passt, bitte selber machen :P )
Habe "Retter in der Not" recht frei übersetzt auf "Need for a saviour" (der eigentliche ausdruck 'White Knight' könnte missverständlich sein)
Macht das zeichen ' probleme? habe es einmal verwendet bei "Arwen Undomials'"
Fürst wurde auf Prince übersetzt (ka ob ihr da nen standard term habt)
Manchmal habe ich aktivier beschreibungen vereinfacht "Linkklicke auf passierbares Terrain" und "Linksklicke das Symbol und dann auf passierbares terrain" zb, beides auf "Leftclick at passable terrain"

Sonst sollte alles weitgehend fehlerfrei sein

Also ich hab meine Übersetzungen nochmal überarbeitet und Teil 9 fertiggestellt. Mir ist dabei aufgefallen, dass manche Fähigkeiten als Eigennamen übersetzen und andere wiederum nicht. Wie soll dies gehandhabt werde? Ähnliches frag ich mich bei Einheiten. Wird "orc raiders" großgeschrieben?

Meinst du die texte die nach 3.81 enstanden, also zum Beispiel die aus den Bestienmeister Update?
Diese Texte wurden noch nicht übersetzt, die Textblöcke die ich veröffentlicht habe sind alle von die neu in die 3.8 und 3.81 gekommen sind, vorherige sind noch nicht in Blöcke eingeteilt und wurden schön größtenteils von den Edain Übersetzern übersetzt, die aus den Betas kommen erst dran wenn alles andere übersetzt wurde.

Es fehlt nurnoch Text 8, dann sind wir mit den bisherigen durch. Mal gucken ob die Texte von vor 3.8 noch genug sind um sie zur übersetzung freizugeben oder ob dann direkt mit den Betatexten weiter gemacht wird.

Wenn ich mich nicht irre, man kann "Mini-faction" sagen und "Crypt (oder Barrow- vom Kontext abhängig) of the Damned". Ich glaube.

Supporting faction hört sich denke ich am besten an, Mini-faction wäre etwas generisch aber wohl auch in ordnung.

Ich würde Gruft in diesen falle eher mit grave übersetzen, also Damned of the grave.

Ich bin bei meiner Übersetzung jetzt mal davon ausgegangen, dass es so ist.

Es wird wohl "Barrow-wights" geschrieben (aus den Herr-der-Ringe-Büchern).

Darf ich Edain 3.8.1 mit der englischen Übersetzung testen und testen lassen
(natürlich auf Rechtsschreibfehler und syntaktische Fehler, etc.; nicht aber auf
lexikalische, da ich davon wenig Ahnung habe)? Ich würde die Übersetzung
(wenn ich denn eine Anleitung zum Spielen mit ihr bekomme) dann auch Ameri-
kanern geben (wenn diese da sind) und einem Freund von mir
Jene sollen dann alle Fehler aufschreiben (allerdings glaube ich kaum, dass es viele sind;
dass einer "wether" (Hammel) für "whether" geschrieben hat, zumal da auch noch "if" hin
gemusst hätte ("falls" und nicht "ob"), hat mich dutzig gemacht) und ich könnte die
dann hier hin schreiben
